I am looking for reference tracks, preferably dancefloor-oriented but not too catchy/radio-friendly, or electronic chill… with influences from: Oriental, Indian, Latin, Brazilian (samba, bossa), Romanian and Balkan. Asian maybe… But we feel travelling… by the music.
So I think to Acidarab, Charan Singh, Armonica remix of Lokkhi Terra …
I will post some video to help with what im looking for I Hope to discover some stuff with your help guys
Or this fun street fanfare with the smith n jack remix of Herbert
Or this track from Cesaria Evora (remix Carl Craig)
Or this track of Mathew Jonson - “Return Of The Zombie Bikers” (the synth sound oriental to me)
Ils to help a student who have in mind to make (world) house music
And as we cant know everything I ask help here….
NB : No need for afro house and amapiano I done my homework and find plenty of great references.
oh I forget about this Djuma Soundsystem - Les Djinns (Trentemoller Remix)
I’m not a big fan of house with “world music” influences, but one track (that was quite big when it was released 15 years ago) immediately came to mind: Michel Cleis - La Mezcla. I was gonna post the original, but stumbled across this Charles Webster remix, that I had not been aware of, but which I like much more:
With latin influences, you will find loads of good stuff from the 90ies. A few nice examples:
it looks like youve already found your reference tracks…why not use those ones youve posted if theyre tracks you like ? adding another 50 tracks/ a thread full of tracks will just confuse things.
Always loved Banco De Gaia myself - not sure if that’s truly world style enough and its not house but definitely evocative of ancient cultures and interesting to analyze in this context perhaps?
Principe discos (I got almost all their releases on vinyl)
Enchufada
Nyege Nyege Tapes
Nyege Nyege is a bit all over the place, but Principe and Enchudafa have housey stuff leaining into Portugese/Angolan angles. I think they call that sound “Batida”?
as far as I remember (1994-95), i was on the dance floor it was more towards the end of the party while the dj drop that I would say at the best moment he could drop it and it was a wow moment !!! who remember that ? First time I experienced something underground and kind of oriental/indian I don’t know but something weird and crazy
Kamasutra :
Prior to this collaboration, Alex Neri and Marco Baroni After two years of Italian army duties, they formed Kamasutra.
[Off topic] …before going on to be part of Planet Funk, one of my all-time favourite electronic groups. Chase the Sun was pretty much my first foray into house/electronic music.
Cool, Ah Todd Terje, hell yeah ! thanks
it’s seem obvious “world” house music but that doesn’t mean it easy to do it right
(in my opinion) Thanks for this truly awesome track
