Looking for pads

Hi friends,
I’m looking for high quality samplepacks containing atmospheric pads. General style. I will use them in model: samples.

Most pad/atmosphere samples I found contain too much movement, or even arpeggios etc. I need just straight old fashioned background pads and atmospheres that can be looped and are not bound to specific tempos.

Do you have any recommendations, either free or cheap?

Have you got an iphone or ipad? I find sampling your own pad sounds from Auv3 apps or an actual synth is the way.

There are some free ones on a site called 99sounds. From memory, check for the downloads Pegasus and Tenalach. I’ll check what I’ve got later and update if need be.

EDIT: confirmed, those were the good ones.

Try some of the audiokit apps, there are some free ones (and cheap ones) and they will have pads:

I’m sure Soulseek is gone by now so definitely don’t see what you can find on there

Personally, I just find searching through sample packs or using loopcloud an absolute vibe killer. There’s some other added benefits to using soft/hard synths. You can turn off the fx so you can add them later in the box, instead of having them baked in. I also like to sample a huge frequency range and then shave off the highs and lows later. Samples in sample packs often sound amazing on their own, which makes us buy them, but you can’t always mold them to your taste or to fit your track like you can with a synth. Just my preference though, sample packs are amazing for some.

I totally agree to your points about the disadvantages with samplepacks. I usually never use samples for pads etc. But now I’m gonna try to use a slimmed down setup with only M:S and M:C. In those machines it is good if the pad samples are already sounding finished, since they don’t leave much opportunity for tweaking.
