Looking for fairly raw percussion one-shot sample libraries

I am looking for percussion one-shots that haven’t been compressed/ overly processed. I am happy for these to be acoustic or synthesised (even old general midi orchestral/latin percussion sounds would be nice), but all of the samples packs I have heard are ridiculously over produced, I want nice simple sounds whose dynamics haven’t been compromised!

Not sure If this is the place to ask? But surely people are feeding their digitakts with something.

Try this link that I shared a while back, this site had a couple free packs with some nice raw percussion and exotic drum samples. Might be more of that variety that you can pay for but at least some of the free sample packs were raw percussion hits.

You’ll have to look through the list though, there were quite a few free ones and from what I’ve seen it changes periodically,

Here’s the complete collection from the SR-16, minimally processed.

Awesome! These are both great, thank you.

Now I just need some castanets and a vibraslap and I’m good to go

So I finally downloaded some sample packs. As others have mentioned in another thread, having too many samples can be distracting. Everything in the Boom Bap pack sounds great and will be useful. Contrary-wise, I went through the Random Sound FX pack and ruthlessly culled it down to less than a dozen very nice sounds. Will go through the other packs and do the same. Thanks!

I’m good at the assessing whether or not something will be useful part, but bad at the “renaming, cutting, and deleting” part so I’m one of the ones who ends up with a bunch of sample packs that I rarely use.

I do have a few favorite one shots though, but after you listen to like 600 snares in a row they all start to sound like shit.

If you want raw, I can record some samples of myself burping into an empty beer can. Might even be able to do multisample.

look up pluginguru’s sample packs for mega macho and super macho drums. you can get the wav samples by themselves. John L did all the sounds/samples for big box brand name keyboard workstations back in the day, idk what he does to post process his samples but they all have this ridiculous sheen and thick body to them, mix ready doesn’t even describe them. they sound fucking luminous to me. kicks, hats, percussion, blips, blops, they all have transient like a pistol, top end eq like cake icing, and body that sounds like it was ran through a fairchild and I don’t know how tf he does that.

oh wait you said not processed…

my favorite raw sounds are NI battery 3 factory library world percussion, and the other factory battery 3 kits with found sounds and field recordings. stereo-condenser-held-in-hand-2-inches-from-source un-normalized 15db proximity-boom-from-finger-cymbal raw.

spectrasonics heart of Asia and heart of Africa are the og zero-processed raw sounds-like-its-in-the-room ethnic world percussion. u can still buy it through a distributor last time i checked, not sure if it’s official, and it was expensive af, but I think it’s a legacy product like stylus RMX.

fucking RIP internet archive :triumph:

roland kit modules can’t even manage drum sounds as good as battery 3 factory library. good news, is battery 4 does come with battery legacy samples from 1 2 and 3. maybe not all of them

u could milk a few raw one shots out of just this video by plugging M8 into USB

Didn’t see this mentioned here already …

What about Samples from Mars. Lots of material well categorized, available in different packages, and sometimes they have a sales campaign to sell many samples for small money:

Or what about samples from Raw Cutz:

Provides many one-shot drum samples as well …

… and there are many other sample packs available …

Yeah…yeah…do it!!! I need that for hi peak techno! LOL
