Looking for beta testers: MANDOLINE – turn long hardware takes into a clean sample pack

Hey Nauts!

I record a lot of long takes from my synths and drum machines and got tired of chopping them by hand. So I built a browser tool for it.

It’s in beta and I’d love feedback from people who sample their own gear.

Disclaimer
Yes, this is vibe-coded. If that’s something you don’t want to be involved with, that’s fair. Just wanted to be transparent about it.

What it does

  • Drop in a long session (WAV/AIFF/FLAC/MP3), slices are detected automatically
  • Keyboard-centered curation: arrow keys preview instantly, 1–5 tags a category and marks it for export
  • Find Similar: groups near-duplicate hits so you keep the best one
  • Make loop: turn any slice into a click-free loop with a BPM grid, drag the end to set the tempo, seam view to check if it liops smoothly
  • Slice-tree: overview of all selected and grouped samples (also lets you review all not-selected samples)
  • Every slice snaps to a zero-crossing, no clicks
  • Hold right-click on a marker for a zoom
  • Key detection (still being tuned for chords and bass), root note + BPM written into the WAV
  • Export straight into category folders, filenames built from tags (name, category, key, BPM…)
  • Mono-fold when L/R are identical, normalize, de-click
  • Files stay local on your computer, no server upload or anything required

Here is a quick demo of the workflow:

Why it might be useful for you
Fast way to get from “I jammed 20 minutes on the Syntakt” to a tidy folder of one-shots and loops ready for any sampler.

What I’m looking for
About 10 testers, a few spots are still open. People who’d throw their own takes at it and tell me what breaks or feels slow. Honest notes welcome. I make techno, but Mandoline isn’t genre-specific. I’d love to see material from any style.

It’s free to test, and there will be no subscription ever. As a thank-you, every tester gets lifetime access to the full version.

Runs in the browser, Chrome or Edge on desktop.

If that sounds like something you’d like to be part of, drop me a line in this thread and I’ll send you a DM with all the details.

You’re the best!

Cheers,
Andreas
