Live transpose a-la Analog Four

So A4 has that cool function for live transposing any or all tracks live while they’re playing to desired key with it’s keyboard. Is there any other groovebox that can do this? I know MC-101 can, but only single track and just inside one octave, so no way to transpose down (I’m not sure if this is possible on A4, but would be great if it is).

If not, can some DAW do this? Maybe Ableton, Renoise…? I have Renoise but haven’t personally found a way to do it.

Digitone, OP-XY

M8 if you consider it a groovebox (also no keyboard).

Not groove boxes but I love this feature on the units I own that do this:

Minifreak
Microfreak
Zaquencer

Is a groovebox (on iOS)
Drambo

Digitone can do this? How? I only remember being able to transpose by semitones, not directly to a key like A4.

Yeah Microfreak does this beautifully. Keystep 37 too. I wish Arturia would make a groovebox, they do a lot of things right from performance standpoint. Can you do this in Drambo from a midi controller?

Unless there’s a magical mystical hidden mode, Digitone cannot do this. It’s one of the things I really want for the digi boxes to be able to do.

Digitone II can do this by Track or Pattern and in semitones or octaves. You can even select which Track(s) to Transpose.

But it does not stay in the chosen scale. If you enter a C in the sequencer, make the scale C major, then transpose up a semitone, the C will play a C sharp.

Are you talking about Scalar Transposition as opposed to Chromatic Transposition?

Yeah, the OP is talking about transposing while staying in a specific key. Chromatic transposition is not that useful IMO.

Drambo can do pretty much anything you want…

Check 3:33 on this excellent video from Ben Richards (the critical module is CV quantizer which locks to scale):

Edit: Also I totally agree - an Arturia hardware groovebox with some Minifreak/Microfreak derived voices, and some pure analogue voices from the minibrute and drumbrute with the sequencer from the MB-2S, and sample loading capability which you can then run through the audio in oscs on the 'Freak engines… Mmm hope Arturia are listening lol - perhaps with some refinements like p-lock and set start step etc would be fab! Kinda like a French dancing bear

Yeah fair - but it is useful for key changes right? So having a button you can press to alternate between scalar and chromatic would be great…

Just to be clear, I’m talking about this:

Can DNII do this, or is it just up/down by one step/semitone…?
