I want to say this up front: this is about the music, not the mods or the gear itself. There’s plenty of discussion on the internet, but there’s not a whole lot of music being posted. This place is at its best when we’re talking about music, not fighting about gear.
Post the music you’re making on your customized, modified, circuit bent, etc devices. I want to hear what the community is making when they get what they say they want. I want to know what you’re making that you couldn’t make before.
You added outputs to a drum machine so you can process tracks differently? Post it here! Using one of those current hot topic custom firmwares? Post the sounds (and only the sounds) here. You put together a proper groovebox inside the Organelle? You got it, post here. Modded your 303 clone with extra filter toys? This is the place. Did you circuit-bend a blender to get terrible demon-screeching? I want to hear it.
To keep this thread within the bounds of the rules, try to stick to the following:
Only post music which has elements made on modified devices. Not all sounds in the song have to come from a modified device.
You can mention what device you used, but it may be best to stick it in spoilers.
If it’s a firmware hack, do not mention which one unless it has been explicitly given the company’s blessing. An instagram post does not count, it needs to be a proper statement from the company.
This should go without saying but do not share illegal or modified firmwares, nor allude to how to use them.
This is not a space to debate the value, ethics, or legitimacy of customizing devices, nor is it a space to flaunt Elektron’s policies or forum rules.
M-Vave FM-1 with custom firmware, I’m currently experimenting with a few different ones, I used a light sensor connected to an Arduino to generate midi notes for the chime part, they are played by reflections of the sun on my garden pond.
Not sure which firmware I will settle on yet, currently trying Skiff which seems to have a good balance of features and usability. I have not recorded anything using Skiff yet but it will be a complete different sound and style than this one.
I vibed-coded a perkons voice on my octatrack. T1 is perkons with crossfader fun, T2 is a break. Due to the nature of this firmware I will never release it. Thank you for your understanding.
