Launchkey mini Mk3 compatible with Digitakt?

I just bought the new Launchkey midi controller. I’d like to set it up to the Digitakt and use the keyboard as the Arturia KeyStep has been used by others.

I’ve watched video tutorials on how to set up the Arturia controller, I’ve followed the steps indicated and my Launchkey Mini is not doing anything to the Digitakt.

Has anyone successfully set up this combo?

  1. Have you connected Lauchkey MIDI out to Digitakt MIDI in with a MIDI cable?
  2. Have you set the two to send/receive on the same MIDI channel ?

What MIDI settings have you made on the Digitakt?

  1. Yes. Launchkey has a 3.5mm MIDI output, so I’m using a TRS to MIDI adapter. I’m going OUT of the Launchkey into IN on the Digitakt.

2)Yes. Same channel on both.

SYNC:

Clock Receive – ON
Clock Send – ON
Prog CH Receive – OFF
Prog CH Send – ON

PORT CONFIG:

Input From – MIDI+USB
Receive Notes – ON
Receive CC/NRPN – ON

CHANNELS:

Track 1-8 Channel – 1-8
Track A-H Channel – OFF
Auto Channel – 1
Prog Chg IN Ch – AUTO
Prog Chg OUT Ch – AUTO

Auto-channel is 1? Is that a typo? You wouldn’t want the auto-channel set to the same as an actual track. The Digitone is 10 or 11 so I’m thinking typo.

I don’t have a Launchkey but I do have a Keystep. I can select the MIDI channel I’m transmitting on on the Keystep. Can the same be done on the Launchkey?

change your auto channel to one not already in use and set your launchkey to the autochannel.

What adapter are you using? The MIDI adapter (TRS to MIDI) from Arturia is a Type B and the Launchkey Mini mk3 needs a Type A.

Correct, that was a typo. Sorry…

Auto Channel – 14

I am able to choose the MIDI channel on the Launchkey. It is set to Channel 14.

I’m using the Male 3.5mm TRS to Female 5 pin DIN adapter by “1010music”.

Apparently, based on a customer’s review on Sweetwater, this adapter is Type B.

Are you telling me I bought the wrong adapter? :frowning:

You need a Type A adapter. This Video from loopop explain it very well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3fkAsimPIs

I will shop around for a Type A adapter. Any specific recommendation?

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

I didn’t realise Launchkey Mini mk3 doesn’t come with a MIdI adapter cable. Try contacting Novation Support to see if they can help you source one.

I already did it. They won’t.

Something like this is what you’d need based on what I saw in that Loopop video:

That and just a normal 5 Pin DIN cable

Amazon https://www.amazon.ca/Audio-câble-dérivation-broches-femelle/dp/B0797SG8RS/ref=pd_rhf_eetyp_p_img_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=4X4CA2Z485M44ANB2DJM

The Type A adaptor just came in. Plugged it in, and everything is running smooth as butter.

Thank you so much for all the help.:pray::pray:
