hey folks just ordered a korg x911 as i am primarily a guitarist and always wanted one!

the veritable alex ball pooh poohed the x911 a few years ago but its all down to personal taste even tho he is clearly very talented and knowledgeable

i tired to use it with a cirklon and gave up, mine was probably broken
guess it would work better as it was supposed to be used, with a guitar

I bought one a decade ago but it was broken: it woudn’t track the input pitch at all. I’ve kept it in order to fix it some day and use it as an expander, through CV input. I haven’t done so much because of the Hz/V standard… still watching the replacement chip though.
Meanwhile, I bought a SonicSmith Convertor+. It’s not the same animal: I planned to use the X911 as a way to achieve the Korg sound playing my beloved Moog Little Phatty. The Convertor synth sound is not exciting but the device will convert the input pitch into 1V/Oct CV signal…
I haven’t been using this one much more, but the last time I recorded a demo for a buyer, I thought that I might keep it and guess what: the guy did not call back
