Korg nts-3 kaoss pad

I have one on the way from Detroit Modular. Ordered a couple of months ago. Looks like they are in stock now.

Nice! Just put my order in so it looks like they still have stock.

This is great news… if we could have a no-brained 4-bar loop by a few FX, all controlled by MIDI…. This could be a great, ultra- portable transition machine.

Mine is now apparently with Fedex from Japan to the UK, so they definitely exist now… imagine Europe might be a few weeks still though maybe?

My thomann preorder still announces 7 to 10 weeks. I may have a pleasant surprise at some point, who knows ? :innocent:

I got one on preorder with Perfect Circuit, they said they don’t have and word on when they’ll be delivering as of now

Mine says 2-3 weeks now

well, I am never going to get over how much the import duty and fees were, but my ridiculously expensive, very slightly ahead of European release Kaoss Pad has arrived…

pretty sure that early serial number will make it near priceless in 25 years tho.
(it actually feels like a very cool thing,

interesting news for Blackbox owners:

you can power it from the USB slot, and slave the Blackbox to the Kaoss pad sync out, so I think should work out for doing transitions between presets… I think anywyay.

Got mine delivered today! Pretty cool, the input gain is pretty low though, perhaps that’s accessible in the editor, we’ll see, looking forward to a deep dive tomorow

It’s been a bit of a surprise, but the NTS-3 is also available in China. Ordered yesterday, and it arrived today. Pretty content to finally replace the KAOSS PAD KP3+ for upcoming performances.

You can set the gain of the input. Hold the EDIT button while powering on. The first parameter is the gain setting. Default is -6 dB. Change the setting by sliding the FX Depth up or down. Then press FX4 to save it.

How are the reverbs on this? And can you dial in a tempo easily and accurately for delays? Interested in using it as a DJ effect, currently have a Zoom MS70 but the reverbs are pretty crap and you can only tap tempo

Mine says 2 months… 🥲 (on Thomann as well)

Ordered quite soon after the announcement, i.e. with for a lower price (€149)

I hope they are not just delaying delivery in the hope that I end up cancelling my order. It feels unfair that other got their ones delivered already.

Reverbs are good—in addition to a room and hall that are very “reflective” in the physics sense, they have ‘verbs that are at least the same names as some of the very good ones included on the Prologue: space, riser (shimmer w/ up-pitch), and submarine (shimmer w/ down-pitch).

Tempo can be set either by tap or holding the tempo button and turning the encoder, resolution is .5 bpm.

I had those thoughts as well, said 3-5 months or something for a long time too. I think they know they’d catch quite a lot of flack for it though and are just assigning units according to purchase queue and how many they receive of them in each batch

Edit: also appears to be 2+ months for new orders

That’s perfect! thanks for the details. Looking forward to this being in stock in the UK

A quick feedback on the NTS-3:

Assembly was fairly straightforward, I’ve been using my own screwdriver set though, which should have had benefits over the included tiny blue screwdriver.

The main PCB/motherboard was extremely sticky, and it appeared more like a late beta or early production run. Sadly, I missed taking a photo, however, some of you guys might be able to share their experiences.

Moreover, I had to bend the mainboard slightly so the volume wheel wouldn’t scratch on the front blend. It doesn’t feel what I would call road-proof, but the unit is extremely portable and light-weight, which certainly is a plus

For those who prefer to use MIDI over sync, make sure to switch the pins from sync to MIDI, which are easy to identify & there are videos on YouTube, showing the where and the how to do it.

Mine came with firmware 1.01, which I updated to the latest 1.02, with no problems. When setting up the editor (which unfortunately is not scalable, as it seems . . . ) make sure to set NRPN messages to ON, so you can edit effects via the editor, when double-clicking on the effect entry.

By setting Clock Source to Auto, the NTS-3 will automatically sync to any incoming MIDI clock.

Since folks with the Nu:Tek NTS-3 likely bother with this anyway, I’m quickly dropping a question:
are the logue SDK custom/user effects for the NTS-3 compatible with the Drumlogue?

The Drumlogue shipped with a later version of the logue SDK, therefore wasn’t (backwards) compatible with custom stuff for the Prologue, NTS-1, etc. But I think SDK stuff for the NTS-1 mk2 should be compatible with the Drumlogue, and I assume user effects for the NTS-3 might be available for usage on the Drumlogue as well.
On the other hand I’m not sure if porting the SDK stuff for the NTS-1 mk2 and NTS-3 to the Drumlogue requires additional efforts/coding?

(sorry, I’d look it up myself but am short of time atm so I’m just asking here. And I’m sure there are very knowledgable folks regarding this around here)

Pretty sure the new sdks require more processing power and won’t be backwards compatible

I asked this of sinevibes just before I sold my drumlogue and they said their new sdks will be for the two new models and not drumlogue compatible
