Korg microKORG 2

I’ll buy it later this week and give it a shot

Ever wanted to run NTS1 oscillators on the MicroKorg2 ?

how do you like it?

How has your journey with the MicroKorg 2 been so far? I can imagine using it in a pretty simple setup alongside my SP-404MKII. I have a MicroFreak, but I never really clicked with it. Now I’m wondering if the MK2 might have a lot more potential than the presets initially suggest. I’d be interested to hear how you’ve been getting on with it and whether it has grown on you over time. Thx!

I am going through my gear backlog at the moment, Tonverk and Moog Messenger are in front of line right now. Give me a month or two and I’ll give you honest feedback. Ping me after two months if I forget if I’m onto the next big thing.

I still like mine. I’d recommend it if you are looking for something fun to use, incredibly easy to program, and you enjoy sound shaping with effects. I think those are its biggest strengths. I think it would pair really well with a 404MKII because the sound palette is quite versatile.

I think my biggest complaint about it is that it’s a little too big. I wish it had the same footprint as the original MicroKorg. That would make it easier to fit on the desk as a midi keyboard. Another synth that I have that arguably sounds a bit better (more analog) is the Yamaha Reface CS, but the MicroKorg 2 is way more versatile. I like both. The MicroKorg 2 is the most “fun” synth I own.

  • One other thought I’ve had recently. With Korg opening up the MK2 to open source development with Logue SDK, I’m actually hoping that this boom of software development we are seeing now leads to some interesting things for the MK2. While I’m doubtful Korg will do much official development for the OS, I’d love it if they did more to develop the loop feature even further or give us more effects slots. I think the most interesting request we’ve seen here was putting the original MicroKorg on as an option. Probably never going to happen since they still sell the OG, but one can dream.
