They brought it back, now bring back the Electribes plzzz ![]()
Still with the RCA jacks? Please stop Korg, he’s already dead.
Nice.
Kaoss pad was always more meant as a DJ performance tool, there RCA was and still is the more dominant connector from what I understand, but let’s be honest, adapters are cheap and ubiquitous, why should anybody really care.
I’m more surprised that it’s 1:1 the old form factor. Is it because the last iteration had such a backlash?
Interesting that it didn’t ship with Logue SDK support, given the existence of NTS-3
Maybe it shows up at a later date like with microKORG2. Or maybe not at all
This is a cool unit though, always been attracted to the kp3+ but never got around to buying one
Edit: wonder if this means we’ll see another round of Kaossilator too
I have the old one so …. Not sure I’d need this upgrade … esp considering how much I use it
Disappointed it doesn’t have sdk/dsp , rca is annoying ( yes I have the leads somewhere )
And no mini screen …
£500 seems a bit high too
I’d need to check the manual … lfo’s ??? I used to program external midi cc’s if I were capturing fx
The korg kaos replay is only £140 extra … perhaps that’s abandoned…? It was far too expensive when it came out
I still have a KP2.
It’s great for performing. It has a ton of effects.
But for me it’s lacking the finer controls, the option to chain FX and the sophistication in some algorithms.
And I found the midi implementation to be…cumbersome. and the sampling is away to basic.
But I still have it.
Better sampling, streamlined midi (being sequenced from a digitakt for example), a couple better sounding effects. (Mainly reverbs), rework of the looper/granular effects … and chaining. I have not watched what they changed. But logue SDK would definitely help in some form.
What I would really love is to macro xy to different ranges of different parameters of chained FX. Just the thought of having 4 completely different sounding FX setups in the 4 corners and morphing between them.
I hate that they kept this display. An old would have been similar in size, and could have shown the same + way more.
What the KP3 was always good: fooling around and creating a ton of interesting one shot samples and sound effects.
Oh I see hi-Z. That’s a neat addition.
Ok. Just saw the price… Na sorry. 600€ is to high.
(Not compared to boutique pedals chase bliss style, because it seems to be capable of more. But they kept the UX improvements to low for that)
If you don’t already have a crate full of 1/4" to RCA cables do you even music.
I can live with either tbh, although I do feel like most DJ mixers these days use regular jacks for insert effects etc so actually I’m not sure it even makes that much sense for a DJ unless you’re running it directly from a turntable…
Cool either way!
I think it seems pretty damn cool.
…semi wannabe pro as always…
such a nice gadget…had the early dj battle mixer version of that…
but all it’s nice capabilties end up toylike, since they’re still not willing to go the whole distance to truu pro gear with this concept…and that’s a pity.
id guess a ‘full pro version’ is closer to kaos Replay ? … or whatever ‘pro’ means would head towards £1k - £2k plus.
if ‘toys’ are what we get when things are more affordable ,… i’m ok with toys even if they have a few annoying issues… i have kp3 and kp3 mini.
lots of decent music has been made on toys.
I sold the kaoss pad 3 and kaossillator+ mainly for this reason, as someone else wrote they are designed for live, if you connect a synth to them the signal immediately goes into distortion and I have cables with literally burnt connectors
Beardyman used to rock a few KP3/KP3+ on stage bitd, for the looping and fx but I always found the interface very clumsy, so respect to those that master them. Mine has been gathering dust with the Kaossilator Pro.
Interesting that it hasn’t improved much in 13 years over the KP3+. Is the world ready for a rerun?
Wouldn’t work directly from most turntables though as these are just line input instead of being switchable to phono, according to the specs on the Korg site.
They are designed for line level, I’m confused… What synth is not designed for live level?
If you mention modular, we’ll duh, that’s a way to hot signal. The general sentiment is you need a module to get stuff to line level if you leave your modular rig if it’s not specific hardware made to handle modular.
Or am I mixing something up here?
Many have an integrated phone pre amp, and you can switch the signal (like korgs turntables), and if a phono has cinch ins then it 99% of the time has cinch outs, so still stands.
Then you have digital du decks that also more often then not have cinch ins and outs.
I began making music with an EMX and KP3 (thanks to Enter Shikari), and I still consider that my favorite ever combo, despite selling (and regretting) the KP3.
Guys, you should’ve seen the smile on my face when I saw this. This is my personal octatrack, my kaosstrack
and soon it will be mangling my Elektron gear ![]()

I would have loved this to have extra buttons for selecting what is affected by effects (input/samples recorded in ABCD).
That could make it really handy for sampling transitions between tracks when playing with hardware sets.
That’s weird, I’ve used synths through my kp3 for more than a decade with no issues and the levels are normal. Maybe you had a faulty unit. Mine works fine with no burnt anything.
You’re right about everything, but the Korg connectors still get very hot, and with a lot of sounds the red light comes on to indicate that you’re in distortion. I always used normal synths, and normal volumes, with the knob at 12 o’clock, maximum 13 o’clock, but I always had to be careful because the signal always peaked. In the end I connected them together, Kaossilator with the Kaoss Pad effects on top, and together they work great. @Suspect_Frequency It could be that it depended on my sources, I tried to connect mainly roland workstations and some outputs of my mpc, many presets always came out too high
