Here’s another vintage piece of gear I am obsessed with and I have a chance to pick one up for next to nothing
HOWEVER! A former owner has removed the output jacks and the headphone jacks. WTF!? The current owner seems like kind of a noob and has no idea why the person did it. He says however that it works as a MIDI controller, all the buttons and knobs send MIDI so that would indicate that it has some usable functionality - so my idea is I could solder in some jacks!?
Any idea why on earth anyone would ever remove those jacks? I cant imagine a scenario!? If the MIDI is intact, would it follow that the synth engines would be intact?
I recently ordered an EM-1 from Japan. The listing says it comes with a 100-240V PSU. The pics corroborate this - Input is 240V AC, 50/60 Hz. I only really know the bare minimum about power supplies (enough not to fry a pedal), but I believe this means it works in most countries and it should work in the US. Is that correct?
In the meantime, I’m super stoked. I love my EA-1 and it’ll be fun (if sometimes frustrating) to pair them up. I’ve watched a few incredible YT vids showcasing the device:
Have any fellow 'nauts used an EM-1? I know it gets overshadowed by the more capable EMX-1 but I’d love to hear examples of what some of you have done with it.
Actually, yes. I really enjoyed something about the sound in his video, and then after looking up more videos, I was hooked.
The barrel of the provided power supply is an awkward fit. I might need to get a different one. The thing works well otherwise though and I’d pretty damn fun.
Bad Gear certainly generates some proper GASes all around. It just can’t be mere coincidence that the post activates after 4 years of inactivity and some weeks after appearing on Bad Gear there are many people interested on that machine again
