Korg Collection 4 thread

I am making this thread because we had someone on the board mention how good the triton emulation is. I was wondering if there is emulation of the tubes on the triton extreme.

I am also wondering how good the microkorg sounds compared to the hardware

The best way to find out is to download demos of those instruments separately and decide for yourself.

All I have from that collection is ELECTRIBE-R and I actually prefer it to the hardware.

Well, now. Curiosity got the best of me so I took my own advice and downloaded the microKORG demo. I don’t have the hardware version to compare it to but in my opinion the standalone app/plug-in version sounds pretty darn awesome. A few of the presets brought a grin of recognition. Yeah, and I even had a bit of fun with the vocoder via my built-in laptop mic.

There are UI enhancements that display envelopes, waveform shapes, virtual patches, etc. It’s not an MS2000, but now there’s more to see of what’s going on within the sound engine.

Click the “burger menu” in the Program Select area to adjust screen size, skin choice, etc. as well as to download the PDF of the manual. The demo canceled whatever plans in the back of my mind that maybe I should buy the hardware version. I already have a physical keyboard. I’m good.

You can’t save programs in the demo mode and after 20 mins it will no longer produce sound. But I had no problem sampling what I played into my SP-404 Mk2 via Skip Back recording. :slightly_smiling_face:

By the way, KORG Software Pass is nowhere near as annoying as Roland Cloud. These apps go on sale often enough. The individual price for microKORG is $149.00 but drops to $99 whenever it goes on sale again. I’ll be waiting.

That said, some of the older apps that I’ve tried (can’t remember which ones) that are included with the KORG Collection have not had their user interface updated like ELECTRIBE-R and microKORG and certainly look it.

the R is massively underrated soundwise imo

The Extreme has tube emulation, but I haven’t played the hardware to compare it with.
