Just tested on iPad :
I wasn’t sure I cared about a synth in Koala, but this is already my favorite simple synth. So fast and easy to use! And of course, like everything in Koala, you cannot open the app without making something cool.
Love it.
This is dope!
Felt like a strange choice at first but actually a self contained instrument rather than AU hosting fits in with the quick! make music! feel of the rest of the app.
Addition of midi out and now quokka in that More section makes me think au hosting is on the horizon.
Where is it though? I’ve clicked on “more”, then selected “quokka”, but still nothing appears (?)…
Have you pressed the “load” button at the bottom of the page (full screen dropdown mode) or dragged the Quokka module to a slot (half screen dropdown mode)? It should appear on one of the pads/slots on the selected pad bank.
Ah, ok - that wasn’t at all obvious- thank you!
I’ve been using samples to create basic synth patches in my Koala sketches. So having a real synth is brilliant. I’ve also had a little play with it and Quokka is a great addition to the Koalasphere.
Excellent
Koala is by far the best music app on android, and this update is amazing !
Same. This is a nice addition to using single-cycles from your own samples. And of course it’s easy to add fx resample them!
Lovely cheeky little addition that brought a smile to my face when I played with it.
Imagine when he implements automation in the sequencer for it! (You know it has to be coming, right!)
Very nice update and things to come it seems. This really is probably the best thought out music app there is for on the go. It’s not like playing with hardware, but it gets close.
It just really is so immediate and fun. And on android! Usually my kids want nothing to do with my music but I made this goofy thing in a couple minutes with quokka and it not only made my seven year old nod her head but she picked up some bongos and started jamming with me lol
It is pretty catchy!
Aw thanks!
What a fun update! Thank you Team Koala!
That won’t ever come to Koala. If Marek introduces it, if will be in another programme. He has always maintained that the Android version should have parity with the iOS standalone, therefore AUv3 hosting isn’t remotely on the road map. There will definitely be more bus FX coming, though.
I will test it out, but I’m now wondering how Koala’s Ableton export handles the new Midi and synth features.
Anybody tried midi control of Quokka parameters ?
Midi learn/mapping didn’t seem to work…
(I just tested on iPhone)
