Agreed, I’m hoping this doesn’t break the streak of that. The simplicity and immediacy of the app has always been the strongest point.

Possibly AU effect hosting in the mixer. AU instrument hosting I can’t imagine working with the simple interface but they did just put in midi stuff recently.
LFOs and recording automation is another one but also takes away from the simplicity.
An internal synth or something like that would be a very strange fit so I hope it isn’t that.

I read that Koala will be fully integrated in TonVerk, with separate tracks…USB C.

Koala isn’t an iOS only app, it’s on Android too. So everything regarding AU doesn’t make sense.

Nah. They can release it and simply be straight forward that there is no equivalent to AU on android.
(As an android user I would fully understand that, it’s Google’s miss that they don’t have an equivalent that developers could support)
I’m intrigued by Marek’s wording (emphasis mine):
“It also represents a new direction koala could go in if popular.”
That makes me think it’s less foundational than automation recording, song mode, or enhanced per-pad controls. Very excited to see what the team has been working on!

I was thinking about this. It could work in a few ways. One would be to add AU as an FX option in the mix bus, just like the other FX.
Another would be to make the performance FX modular like in Koala FX, and let you swap any of them out for an AU.
Or you could even add an AU to a pad, like we can do now with MIDI. That pad would then play the AU instead of playing a sample.
All of those would fit pretty neatly into the current UI.

Marek’s whole approach has always been to ensure that the Koala experience remains identical across phones and tablets, iOS and Android. This won’t change.

The developer did confirm in the reddit comments that this new feature will be released on android as well, so that would indicate it’s not AU related.
