Knobcon 2023

Knobcon :joy:

Sounds more like an alt-right porn convention.

New module from Noise Engineering.

The Xer Mixa
In black or white.

From the NE page on this :
Xer Mixa is a mixer with ten stereo-paired inputs (8 channels and 2 aux-ins), three stereo-paired output busses, tactile controls, and a 100% analog signal path with low noise and crosstalk, pristine sound quality, and ultra-high headroom. A built-in analog leveling amplifier is great for adding some punch to your mix. A digital control interface harnesses the true power of hybrid design, allowing for state save and recall, per-channel pan law and pre/post send settings, multichannel editing, and MIDI I/O.

There is an extra cost expander to give full CV control.

was there a price point announced for the ab mk2? cheaper used mk1s would be amazing

So JAde Wii has got the “Knobcon Bug”, and she is going to be covering the show, and covering more stuff ! The odd thing is Erica Synths is currently not on the list to be at Knobcon.

And she wants to talk to you at the show.

And she’s right there are lots more smaller companies showing up this time – are we out of Covid yet ?? I like her coverage because she doesn’t just pay attention to the new stuff, but just grooves on all the wonderful gear.

What she covered at Knobcon in 2021 :

Roland SP-404 MKII, Dave Smith Prophet 6, OB-6, Moog Grandmother, Mother 32, Teenage Engineering OP-1, Yamaha Montage, Akai MPC Live MKII, MPC X, Native Instruments Maschine Plus, Elektron Analog RYTM MKII, Analog Four MKII, Octatrack MKII, Digitakt, Noise Engineering Desmodus Versio, Strymon Magneto, Starlab, Empress Zoia,
Modbap Modular Per4mer, Osiris, Malekko Varigate 4+, Voltage Block, Noise Engineering BIA, Endorphins Ground Control, Make Noise Morphagene, Bitbox Micro, MK2,
Mordax Data, +
Her 30 minute video from that show.

So for instance if Buchla has anything going on – and you know they will – she’ll be sure to be covering it, like she did in 2021 with the new Easel.

BTW: Marc Doty is going to be at Knobcon 2023, doing a presentation “The Basics of Synthesis” but i expect him to be doing other stuff too, like he talked to JAde Wii in 2021 for Buchla on the new Easel. I knoow he’s interested in Therevox, and they’re there again so maybe some more on them ?

ALSO : Trovarsi is doing something with Novation in a presentation. She’s also done stuff with ASM in the past, although they are still not on the list ( yet ). Suspense ?!

UPDATE : JAde Wii’s flight got cancelled, and probably her trip there too – youtube

You’re going to need thumbnails for your posts, pretty soon…

Version 2

The original debuted at Knobcon 2017. Will be interesting to see what’s new with it.

From the article :
plus a couple of new features to coincide with this launch.

The vectra looks cool, previsou demo was cool too.
I’m waiting for chromagnon demos !!! I preorder it so much time ago =D

First chance to see ( and hopefully play with ) the new Ample from Analogue Solutions.
Looks like they’ve put the goodies from many of their previous gear together in one pleasing package.

I walked by the room earlier and was wondering why there was a FutureRetro banner on the door. I’ll have to stop by when someone’s there!

This i find interesting.

4op fm too, im investigating
edit: oh, that one is older, but interesting.
never stumbled over this one.

I put the new Loopop review for the Bluebox Eurorack over in this thread.

Synth City has a fully-working Fairlight at their booth!

Several attendees and I tried to decipher the ancient hieroglyphs and command modes and while we were finally able to navigate to some different screens with the help of the inch-thick manual, we didn’t get as far as modifying any sounds. Maybe I’ll give it another shot this afternoon…

One thing is for sure, the Arturia plugin does not prepare you at all for the UI of the original.

The Meta Eurorack module from 4ms.

Kind of a snake eating it’s own tail. This module runs virtual VCV ( ? ) modules. Details are still coming in but interesting possibilities with this.

More on Meta at the VCVRack forum:

May or may not actually go into production. Very exciting idea for those of us who use VCV a lot and enjoy variety/have a hard time settling on modules.

Edit: release target 2024 per 4ms on MW:
