I also really enjoy using this little JBL Flip Bluetooth speaker, instead of headphones. It’s got such a great sound like a micro PA! It’s one of the older ones with a miniJack input they removed on newer ones.
Microfreak works so well with DT1 for sampling and performance, both powered from a powerbank. All fits into one small bag.
Sometimes I just want it simple and this is very inspirational.
I also have a kitchen setup consisting of the SP-404mkII and a speaker, I like to spend time with it the family is together. It’s very good to jam with morning coffee. by the way, what about the latency of your speaker? is it a jbl flip 5?
No it a Flip 4. It’s wired in with a minijack so no latency. I chose it for exactly that reason. It does cut off a little snip when it’s been sat idle for a bit, which must be a battery saving thing.
They did away with the minijack input on the 5 and upwards. I’m keen on getting the bigger Charge 4 for the same reason. You can get them on eBay for around £50 - again it has a minijack input and Bluetooth, but it’s a bit heavier
I love a mini setup too! Was rocking my Minifreak + Volca Drum the other day in our bedroom whilst my missus did some painting. Nice to be together whilst doing creative activities that don’t interfere with each other.
Yes, love these setups, I change mine up from time to time, I think for composing I’m way more productive with a portable setup. I don’t see me doing away with my main setup at anytime, but it (portable) has certainly changed the way I think about it and has helped me to decide where the main setup will go in the future.
I used to. This was my setup. These days, my kitchen table setup is just an OP-1F on its own or maybe paired with an iPad. All the other gear is now in a more permanent setup upstairs.
I’m looking forward to the new Roland P-6 to pair with the OP-1F as a portable setup though.
