KIT presets, how to clear a track or a whole KIT?

Probably a simple question, but I’m new to the Analog Rytm MK II (as well as electronic music and instruments in general) and I’m stuck because I can’t find a solution, even when I go through the tutorial.

When I load an unused kit (a kit with no name from the kit list), I still hear sounds when I hit the pads. Now when I try to add a sample to a pad, I succeed, but I also hear the sound that was preset. How can I create a completely empty kit without preset sounds or how can I delete a preset sound?

Thanks for any hints.
(I’m amazed at what it can do. A great instrument!)

There’s always a Default Kit attached to an empty Pattern. Each Pad contains a Machine. It’s the Analog part of the Rytm. If you double-press the SRC button, you have access to all the Machines (sounds) that you can load on the selected Pad. If you don’t want any Machine on this Pad, scroll down and choose Disable.

When you load a sample and don’t want to hear the synth sound (yet), you can deactivate its trigging in the trig menu, fast and simple.

Create your default kit, then fetch it each time you need to start from scratch.

The trig page stuff is saved with the patterns though, not the kit.

Damn, you’re right: I thought the synth and sample triggering was saved in the Kit.
My bad.
So: set the synth part level to 0 and create your default kit. Then save it as a new kit each time you use it, to avoid overwriting it.

And ask a feature-request@elektron.se to have the possibility to choose a kit as default when using “clear kit”

Thank you very much, guys, but I think I mean something else. I’ll describe it:

  1. I choose an empty pattern, let’s say H1, there are the default sounds on the pads.

  2. I select Pad 11 with TRK + Pad 11. A cymbal is heard there.

  3. I select SMPL and press button D, the sample menu appears and I select a sample.

Now when I hit pad 11, I hear both the selected sample and the preset cymbal. The sample does not replace the cymbal, I hear 2 sounds at the same time. This is strange and I can’t find a solution how to turn off the cymbal.

This is exactly what everybody was describing. There are always two things triggered, one analog voice and one sample per pad/track. You have to lower the volume to 0 of the thing you don’t want to hear.

Or there is an option on the trig page if the analog voice or/and the sample gets triggered.

You have to take your time to learn the terminology of the elektron world, as it is quite specific… maybe watch a tutorial on kits sounds samples and so on or refer to the manual and this forum
