Longtime Elektron user here, who finally found the time to really dig into their Tonverk for more than some small experiments.
One thing I wonder (and this is something I run into on all modern Elektron boxes): How do you keep the sounds of multiple patterns in sync?
You create a pattern, want to create a variation, so: Copy it to the next pattern, make adjustments there. Now you have two patterns, where any small tweak to the sound will need to be tediously copied over. When you’ve got a whole song on there, we’re talking about a lot of patterns, a lot of tracks.
Am I missing an easy way to copy over all pattern data except for trigs?
If not, what’s everyone’s method for dealing with this?
Ofcourse I enjoy the power of being able to make these changes per pattern, but I’d prefer a toggle like on per-track length/speed.
It is! Very much a tedious workaround, but… well, better than nothing.
Crazy that Elektron continues not to offer the option of working the ‘old’ way. It’s the one thing that I just can’t get used to on these, and I see a lot of people who feel the same way.
No way on the TV. ST is save project > copy pattern > reload sequence date on copied pattern. Digi 2’’s have perform kit, but none of these options are as good as the old boxes if you compose a certain way.
So, a slight up-tick with the Digi 2’s and a new all-time low achieved with the TV, if you want to write stuff that uses multiple patterns.
I’m hoping the TV gets proper kits via the file menu at some point.
For a company whose customers buy their products based on their uniform sequencer and what it can do, it’s crazy to me that every device (at least at launch) lacks a significant feature.
Absolutely, but that’s the tedium I was talking about. 8 tracks, each potentially having 8 subtracks, 4 busses, the master, the BPM… There’s so much that can be different.
