I dont know your financial situation or musical goals but once I slimmed down my hardware to just a few key pieces and a sampler, plus a DAW I quickly was able to build up a catalogue of releases instead of releasing one and then having opportunities like a label asking for something for a compilation and having nothing to send. For me it is all about productivity and saving that money for a rainy day but everyone is different.
yes less tends to be more
Well, that gets more complex. It also illustrates my inability to read your post thoroughly, which I still don’t feel is all my fault.
Anyway, do you feel you’ve reached the end with the A4/AS1? Are you inspired to play them anymore? If you are ready to move on, then to me it comes down to preferred sound. Also, is there a world where you get the OB6, and Roland JU-6A boutique module for that Juno sound? Could be sort of best of both worlds scenario.
I hate to say that I have hit a wall with the a4 because it was my first Elektron and still holds a special place - as1 I am not so attached to after listening to an a/b with a vintage pro one which sounded better to me, so I do like real analog over virtual and if the ob6 has that vintage character then…I’ll make a decision this week and post once its all arrived
I just noticed my grammatical error which made it harder to read! have edited it…
Is this just the next green hill or do you have something in mind to motivate you into moving towards this life altering purchase? Both would be wonderful, but anyone would think that as they always have. Is this just motive and opportunity frolicking hand in hand?
its probably me acting out a bit, but also I started out with a sampler and a poly synth and was very productive, then it swelled into a mad setup where I got nothing finished and now I want to pare it down and hopefully get more music done
sorry meant to reply but posted instead
No, no, don’t you go taking the credit for my inabilities!
Have you owned a juno or an ob6 in the past?
only in my dreams
I’m going through it with jazzmasters right now. It’s one part delusion, two parts green grass. You will feel sated but increased productivity is an illusion.
If at all possible, look at the fundamental need which is that it sounds like you’re looking for inspiration. How long were you inspired by digitakt? Are you still? The honeymoon period was intense, right?
Telefon Tel Aviv once said Dreams Are Not Enough which is also a great Album.
the digitakt is still first place!!! I thought about sampling pads and chords etc but I miss playing a keyboard
stick to telecasters…I had a jazzmaster once…moved it on
just in case there’s any confusion about this, the AS-1 is also a real analog synth.
indeed it is, but I feel it sounds fizzy compared to an old pro one
sorry I was also replying to the suggestion of the virtual Juno, using the modern/vintage paradigm…I will stop mixing my answers!
Jazzmaster is my spirit animal, had one since 1994 and then like ten years or so ago sold mine on a whim, got a fancy guitar but always regretted selling my main JM. I know what you mean about playing keyboard, has a special feeling on full size keys with yellowing plastic, but don’t do it at your own peril. A nice midi controller and a blindfold might clear that right up for you. Anyways, do what feels right, but not JUST because it feels right, you know?
