OT user for years, now joining mk2 A4 
after disappointing purchase of something else
what do i need to know for pitfalls?
what OS to look for? the most recent?

What pitfalls? Not many if you ask me. Learn how to balance the different tracks 1,2,3,4 by changing the Poly config in the kit menu. I use various configs for each song depending on the arp and the other synths release length. Try changing it up for better or different results.

The Kit + pattern Handling can be challenging in the beginning. If you Work through this, its a very giving Machine. Much easier to use than the OT imho.

I believe it’s helpful to consider first the A4 as 4 monosynths.

which is exactly what i want from it, i know it can sound beautiful when played but for me it is about the patterns playing off against each other, we are moving soon and i have to pack loads of gear away so this and the OT will be my spaceship for some time
