I’m a software engineer stuck in Iceland. Highly interested in getting into audio-related programming since my main hobby is music production.
Does it make sense to search or remote jobs in this field ? Not much happening here in Iceland

Absolutely !!!
Software Engineering is probably one of the most remote-able sort of skills, especially ?Post?-Covid.
To prove that here’s a Manufacturing Engineering position, that is remote possible, with flying in occasionally. Manufacturing Engineering seems to me one of the least likely engineering jobs to be able to do remotely.
This is at Sequential Circuits in the Bay Area, California. The manufacturing is done at and around Sequential’s home base.
Manufacturing Engineer
Sequential is a premium synthesizer maker and our team members have been a leading force in the popularity of analog synthesizers for decades. Our products combine innovative electronic design, embedded software, and great feeling keyboards and controls to produce musical instruments loved by the world’s leading performers and recording artists. We design and manufacture in the San Francisco Bay Area and we are seeking a manufacturing engineer to integrate our engineering and contract manufacturing teams. You’ll help keep our products shipping in high volumes at high quality.

BTW: I love the way they describe this job. It just says, “We’re cool, come work for us !”
Another dev here. Here’s a suggestion:
I’m joking of course, my personal output is currently abysmal.
Although the book is a sincere recommendation!
A friend send this to me, I’ll share it here. Seems like a nice starter gig in a music scene.

Winamp is coming back … with a HR recruiting force:
A few minutes a year I regret leaving software development in my early 20’s, it just soaked me up totally and I had to break out of it for my own health.
I stuck with software ( and hardware ) development, but spent a considerable amount of time consulting with a very good career psychologist, who helped me understand and deal with all the stresses in that career.
A good manager, and a healthy corporate culture helps a tremendous amount. I feel that i became that sort of manager.
Fender has many job openings, mainly in the Los Angeles, CA area, but also many other places. These range from many factory positions, through to engineering and software, and various corporate support positions, and others. Some positions in the factory, include entry level, “apply in person” jobs too.
Moog is hiring in Berlin, Neuköln.
PS: A Subharmonicon for me if you get the job
In time for the Superbooth crowd, that will be dropping by the Moog office in May perhaps ?
It’s not music production, my my job at The Third Floor studios is always hiring previs/postvis artists, production help etc.
It’s a fantastic job and you can work from home.
They even run a training program and hire people who complete it well.

I got a mailer from Sweetwater, that large US music store, and they devoted two pages there recruiting. Looking on their web-site i see Sweetwater has 67 job openings. These range from Barista to VP, some technical, some musical, and all sorts of others.

All these jobs have all sorts of nice employee benefits on-site, like a gym with personal trainer, a spa, a salon, a restaurant, a medical clinic, a coffee shop, a restaurant, plus a concierge to help you. Most of this stuff is available to you with no fee.
Plus, and this might be all i need, they have a discount on their gear, all the way down to wholesale price !!
Most ( not all ) of these jobs are in Fort Wayne Indiana. ( Affordable house prices. )
I’m interested, but only if they can bump it up to a VP-level role with corresponding pay and benefits.
Those are the dishwashing jobs.
Do they offer referral bonuses?
Sequential currently has a Tech support job open Sequential seems like it is a bit more than the standard tech support work though with beta testing and some electrical engineering and soldering skills needed. The pay for bay area isn’t exactly great though but it does have good benefits, I decided to throw my hat in the ring despite my lack of EE background
Last year (while living in France) I sent a prospective job application to Arturia (my specialisation is copywriting). And less than a month after I moved back to the UK, Arturia’s HR department wrote to me to suggest I apply for a new English copywriter role based in Grenoble, France. I won’t be, but I thought there might be an interested Elektronaut, so here’s the copywriter job description:
QA Engineer role opening up at Apple in Hamburg, Germany. Maybe someone here who loves Logic and iPads is interested.

An.idea. This is only for a weekend gig sort of thing, and likely for very small money, but it could help build contacts and pad a resume in the electronic music biz.
Putting together a couple posts recently. Richard Nicol just did a video ( post ) summing up the past year for Pittsburgh Modular. Someone asked him a question about employment and he said they only have seven employees now, they just hired someone, and well … maybe some day.
I also did a thread listing all the shows in 2024 that had electronic music exhibitors.
It occurs to me that quality manufacturers like a Pittsburgh Modular, may have the budget for promotion, but just don’t have the time to do many shows, particularly medium sized shows, that are farther away.
So it seems to me a chance, if you live close to any of those shows i listed, and you are able to present yourself and have a pretty good knowledge of electronic music, you might present yourself, and maybe a friend you can work with, to some of the smaller up and coming companies, like PM, and offer to represent them ( or assist if they are already going ) at the show. You probably can’t ask for much money, besides expenses, and maybe some gear ??, but it might give you the chance to get contact with that company, and every other company you have a chance to contact at the show.
Doing a show is not easy, It can be exhausting, you have to think on your feet, and always keep your cool, and you’re expected to know a lot, and at the same time be willing to say, we’ll get back to you on this. I know other 'nauts have done this exact things for various companies as well, and i’ve seen recruitment ads for similar too.
Just a thought.
