Thanks, man! The “problem” with bass on the A4 (in my experience) is that turning down the filter cutoff really lowers the overall volume of a track. I compensate by turning down the tracks with higher cutoff, and raise the main volume a lot.
But this can make the bass sounds way too loud when you turn up the filter cutoff, so in my performance macros where I raise the filter cutoff on bassy sounds, I also lower that track’s volume.
Currently preparing for a small live set with the a4, here’s an excerpt of 3 tracks through overdubbing torso s-4 with effects to enhance the fuzziness
generally I have a soft spot for the s-4 so def not a neutral answer here. as for pairing with the a4, can’t say i’ve established a solid workflow for the two, but soundwise i reckon the s-4 brightens the otherwise dark sound of the a4 in a nice way.
thanks so much. this will be a small and private event, guaranteed failure but at least expectations will be low/zero and a chance to practice.
Did you try the waveform trick (using the subosc sqw instead of the regular one/halfway triangle instead of the regular saw) to make the bass thicker? I haven’t noticed this issue but I figure maybe I was lucky to hear about this trick before the issue became too obvious.
