Is this artist faking using Elektrons? Or am i going crazy

Honestly it’s so baffling that i need to post it here to make sure im not going crazy

no track audio indicators moving… ok he could be using just midi but doesnt look like it based on the pages lol

also none of this sounds like its made on Elektrons :joy:

theres a grip of these “studio” videos and watching them something threw me off, the timing is very weird and doesn’t sound anything like the parameters moving typically on elektrons. the track muting/unmuting doesnt even make sense

I don’t doubt that he made it with his OT but he’s pantomiming the performance so he can dance more effectively. That’s my take on it.

Looks pretty wack but, you know, some people are definitely mostly entirely concerned with how things look rather than practicing and showing an actual performance.

I could be wrong though and if he’s performing it live then I guess that I just don’t know what I’m talking about and nothing is new.

watch the other videos you’re in for a ride, theres a ton of them. some comments of people asking him questions about the elektrons and none are answered

i’ve been FAR far more wrong about way more important issues so i’m up to being schooled and him swooping in here and calling me a hater :joy:

Id say it’s fake , mostly because the step lights for the kick drum are out of sync with the actual drum / song loop … unless he’s deliberately offset that start point by 2 or 3 steps

im going to go out on a whim and say hes a DJ larping as a producer with someone else doing all the work for him. someone who can work like that in a daw would have a higher standard of themselves. clueless fans aren’t going to question anything i dont think his audience is hardware nerds

yeah it is coming out more now I mean even minimal techo star Boris Brechja uses a DJ mixer and does not even play live instruments. He uses a laptop and makes music. No hardware.

for sure but i’d say he knows what hes doing inside a DAW (boris). he’s always been a bit prideful about being mainly ITB and having a beautiful studio with just monitors and a simple computer lol

far more believable and his music i quite enjoy, im fairly certain hes making everything himself and not larping as a fake hardware guy because he never claimed to be

I’ve seen worse … but he’s obviously got an audience and putting in effort to build it further . Many actual ‘artists’ throughout the years haven’t written their tracks , sung on them , made the music, pretend to play live etx … we all have our own red lines I guess . I’ve never released a track / performed on video … so he’s put in more effort than I have .

His audio might be very out of sync with the video .

very humble and thoughtful response, and yes he is doing it whichever way he can and props to him for finding an audience and making it a profession.

Perhaps he will rock these on stage and prove me very wrong but im not holding my breath lol

I watched this 3 times, zoomed in, examining the legitimacy of the hardware because I thought you were asking if he was using fake Elektrons lol

Dunno if he’s faking it or not, but it would be a really weird thing to fake. I think it’s probably just a performance vid thats not synced up to the music.

one of these jam videos he put “there is no ai being used to make this” and its a hardware jam video, something not adding up and i do truly hope im wrong here. this is the first ive seen of this in all my years online, not even with other grooveboxes or synths

ive watched so so so many hardware videos of people jamming and NOT once did i feel like it was disingenuous fake dj knob and fader pushing. truly irked me to see this done with the elektrons which granted i have a personal interest in as a long time user

An irresistible mystery! To my eye, none of the gestures (arrow keys, track mutes, a couple knobs, a lonely crossfader swipe) would correspond with any of the sound changes happening, not even out of sync.

The annoying part is that if you leave a comment calling it out, it’s just boosting his engagement numbers. Could even be intentional on his part to boost comments, the same way some people put typos in their captions.
