Agreed, he’s a great musician and producer. And I like the variety of artist’s he’s played/worked with. I first saw him playing with Beck during the Odelay tour.

The pickups are a relatively traditional PJ combo. The Mustang pickups (which look similar to a P-Bass pickup) are a different breed. The Seymour Duncans in the JMJ Mustang sing (obviously every individual bass will be different, but in my experience they sound consistently great).

Got the replacement string and it’s definitely too long. I’d have to get quite the spacer as the string touches the peg just laid out flat.

I’ll continue to shop around!

It has been a while since I acquired a new bass, but the Yamaha BBNE2 has caught my interest again. I almost purchased one several years ago. Decisions, decisions, decision!

That’s the Nathan east? I need to try and play one of those. I find it super interesting that Yamaha signed him and John patitucci These are two legendary players and tastemakers as well.

Always been curious about that Patitucci 6er. I mean, he switched from a Ken smith to it. That’s a massive endorsement. I just have not run across one in the wild yet so I don’t know how it plays.

So I bought a new set of strings and apparently they came pre installed to an awfully beat up Mustang! Not sure if I’m liking the designed finish but I did get it new at a great price (damaged shipping box that shows no damage)!

I’ll take it for a spin and see.

So do I! Just was never a fan of road worn guitars or jeans! That said, I’m awful with gear so this should ease the pain when it takes a dive!

I’ve never been a fan of relic’ed or “road-worn” instruments, but the JMJ made me change my tune LOL. And to your point, you’ll feel significantly less guilty if you drop it etc
