It seems nuts that it could be true since it’s only just going on two years old and Elektron seems to let their gear age for quite some time before upgrading or pulling the plug. Not to mention that with the release of “Cycles” it seems like the “Samples” was the beginning of an entire line of budget friendly units. The battery handle debacle has been begging questions, though.
I spoke with CS at GC and was told they aren’t getting more in; they’re no longer available and what remains in their inventory are it. She went so far as to put me on hold, confirm it with her supervisor, and assure me the info was accurate.
It’s available and in stock around here where I live, at least (Sweden). It’s not uncommon that Elektron gear is out of stock for some time, as they rotate and shift priorities on what to manufacture next. As I understand it, the Model and Digi series are doing quite well, so I’d be surprised if it went away this soon, unless an MKII is on its way. The Analog Heat MKII showed up fairly close to the MKI, mainly because of sourcing of parts, I believe.
Maybe that would explain the price drop awhile back. I would be pretty upset unless an MK2 was back to the original price. I’ve only just picked mine up and toying around with it kept me occupied most of the day. It’s quite fun and appears to fit the bill for what I want to accomplish but the promised battery handle is one of the reasons I pulled the trigger.
Yeah, one wonders about the number of ulcers and stress related to Elektron product planning. I’m in product development myself and Overbridge and the reputed battery handle are both the Duke Nuk’em 4-ever of this world. Great ideas, delayed for such a long time they can’t help but feel a bit dated when (if) they arrive, despite their quality, which admittedly is appreciated and used by many.
This comes up now and again. Elektron gear tends to go out of stock from time to time. They’re not about to discontinue it.
The analog heat mk1 was kind of a special case. It used the mk1 dark trinity buttons when elektron had just moved to a newer button type on all other products. The only reason I can imagine an early mk2 is for an integreted battery compartment.
It may take a while before we see any updates for the model:samples. Same thing happened with the digitakt; it only started receiving some of the updates after the digitone was out for a little while.
