Is my Octatrack crossfader OK?

Disassemble it and clean it, use some machine oil for lubrication.

It’s an optical sensor. Lubricant won’t do anything + might even make it worse / break it. It feels like the problem is the stem is “loose” so to speak and allows for more vertical travel than it should.

Luckily I found out my unit is still under warranty until 2029, so looks like I should be able to get this taken care for free.

Did Elektron say whether doing the swap yourself would void the warranty?

I was somewhat reassured I could do it myself, or I could send my unit. Ask them. I did it myself

Please let us know what Elektron said and if they provided you with new crossfader?

Still waiting, I got a response to the initial ticket and was offered to send it in, but then asked if they could send me the part instead. No reply yet but I assume it’s due to their long response times due to vacation season.

I has been a surprise to me too when I wanted to add some weight to the MKII crossfader…I think the best solution is to find a weighted crossfader cap…(above).
Any suggestion welcome…
