hm… I can tell you that the PCB is definitely not sagging, as it’s sandwiched to the faceplate with ca. one billion screws, which makes it quite solid.
it might be the buttons themselves, might be that they will adjust over time, or they may not…
mine are also not 100% level…
if you feel confident about, say, installing a GFX card in a desktop computer, the A4 is ca. the same level of difficulty to take apart/put together…
I’m confident enough to hack and bend stuff, but I’m not taking the lid off this ! I suspect it’s just a tolerance thing, it’s not that it’s changed, it’s just that I noticed it whilst experimenting with legato.
On a second related point, separate thread really, what’s the deal with the legato mode on the CV track. Each track (inc FX) can have a different legato setting. Now, whilst it might be the monotribe I was trying it with at that instant, but the toggle for legato makes no difference - it always plays legato, I suspect this is because of the way the gate voltage is held high but I cannot work out why the settings are available (I suppose all the other settings in that menu are really irrelevant, so I might just be confused)
Have not had that issue with the keyboard. As for legato mode, have a search for another thread, there’s widespread acknowledgement that that’s incomplete as it stands. I’m hoping this will be fixed in the forthcoming update, as the A4 can sound fantastically expressive when played manually, it’s a bit sad that trying to sequence legato does not yield the same results.
yep - i guess they’d have to start recording ‘additional’ held notes per trig to do this (and live arpeggiation recording without recourse to No2, No3, No4 etc) - sounds like this is wishful thinking, unless they say otherwise
if you know of any threads specifically discussing the cv track/outputs implementation of legato then i’d like to know about them, my googling got nowhere - it’s currently legato mode irrespective of the underlying track sound setting (even on regular tracks) and irrespective of the synth setting, my dark energy allows this parameter to be toggled (but that might only be for midi notes!)
thanks for feedback on mini keys quality
yeah, i’m totally there, it’s like a dead pixel on a screen, it’s the only thing you see !!
it looks (see link) like it is as far from a hard-point as you get, but i doubt it is flexing plastically, i hope, kit and sound are two of the most used buttons in my explorations
When I bought my A4 in the shop we compared the two units they had, also because of some minor issues with the painting around the skrews. Both of them had uneven buttons. In the end I took the one I testet first and that had the paint issues. Simply because I liked the buttons on that one more than the other.
I must admit I felt a little bit like being in a pet shop and you end up taking the hamster with the weird pattern and messy fur out of pity. I didn’t regret it. In a weird way, it’s my personal A4.
I just hope it gets that upgrade soon, currently it looks a bit starved.
