Aha ! Never realised that was a button (thought it was more, noob → normal → expert/established) , thank you.
And I see I’m not the only one. But, yes … I should have searched.

I like how people are posting their previously flagged posts to show examples of what has been flagged in a thread about flagged posts.
There is a story in Zen Buddhism (via Alan Watts) about two monks who come to a stream and find a young lady wanting to cross it. One of the monks lets her ride on his back as they wade across and they leave her on the other side of the bank. The other monk is astonished and keeps bringing it up in conversation as they continue their journey. Finally the first monk says to him “I left her at the side of the river, but you are still carrying her”.
Back in my day the teacher used to throw the blackboard rubber at us if we fell asleep
Don’t suppose his name was Mr. Bradford was it?
I don’t see ignore option in profiles, only normal and muted. Maybe because ignore option is only available to members?
I got banned from posting for a month for criticizing the rather unrealistic design of a butt plug that someone posted in the music memes thread. I guess what I’m trying to say is: you can’t please everyone.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
No idea what you see - if you navigate to a user’s summary page the option is apparently there for some users only. There’s a topic on this
The irony of folks being offended by offended folks makes life in this time and space so absurdly hilarious for me.
Flags or people—what’s more hurtful?
Rhetorical.
I’ve been flagged a few times and I haven’t even been here a year yet.
So? Most of the flags came on some of my most liked posts. That tells me the comment landed as it should. Bunch of people liked it and one persons ass hurt. Vain Glorious.
Imagine going thru life and never being flagged at some point along the journey? Whomever that is—stay yo purrfect, lame, sterile ass away from me
Flagging is a good song topic.
personally i’d rather be an labelled an outlier, free to express myself, rather than be forced to “adapt” aka conform or pay the price.
mods should handle inappropriate content, not self appointed morality police.
Similar experience here. BUT … mods have to deal with conflict (including conflicts over ways of handling conflicts, to get meta) in some way or another and they’ve chosen their way. Modding is hard. I’ll let them make their decisions, I wouldn’t want that job again.
you’re not though, we have guidelines
&
because
too bad if true … play by the same rules as everyone or express yourself elsewhere , don’t try to be a defiant keyboard warrior, it’s not half as cool as you think it is and we just don’t suffer it
get along or move along is the take home, we’re not impressed by fake bravado, we’re impressed by humility and civility and good will - that way everyone wins and if you’re stubbornly/falsely proud of being offensive or an outlier then you’ll run out of road soon enough, it’s your call
Try being a bit more aware of your surroundings and peers before taking such a regrettable ‘stance’
tl;dr Don’t keep pushing us
i get along fine. i havent had any problems with anyone.
…everybody who sees a flag ends up with a little unfairly treated feeling…
and sometimes the definition guidelines of what needs to be flagged and what not get a little blurry…
and some like to censor others…opinions vs opinions…wanna win a debate…the classic desaster of human individuals fighting for the last word standing in the age of information…
look how many versions of information this world got recently…
mal- dis- mis-…
in here, in this comunity, end of the day, the concept of flagging works ok…vast majority of this board has enough humour, common sense and common ground that makes it a nice little peaceful and pretty unique place in comparison to all that attention battleground net zero out there…thanx to a good job of the mods…
and hey, i always have a little curious look into any post that gets flagged…
@homealone …i adore this album…one of frank toveys early greats…that’s early mute records at it’s best, when each single electricthing was still a thing…one of those i listened to endlessly and made me wanna do all this too…
If we were paying mods to do this job I’d agree with you, since we aren’t paying them I believe it’s a pretty sensible solution to let the community self-regulate itself and mods only get involved in the more egregious stuff.
Any group in society will shun you if you don’t conform to a basic set of guidelines that makes them cohesive, even hate groups will shun you if you show too much empathy, etc. There’s no place in society where you will be free to express yourself in all of your personality and not get flak for the opinions that don’t match the rest. That’s life in a social environment, either you adapt to the environment, being diplomatic about your opinions on the fringes or you will eventually be kicked out, silenced, and so on. There will be always consequences, trying to fight that on principle is an exercise in futility, you can be genuinely yourself without having to take a hard stand on “I’m what I am and I will say whatever I want to say”. Usually that ends up in edgy or antisocial behaviour.
youre welcome to look through my posts and see that i get along fine here. if anything the mod broke guideline rules in his response to me.
I didn’t say you have or insinuated it, I’m sorry it looked that way, I was just sharing some thoughts around the comment but not trying to judge you at all for your behaviour in this forum. Sorry it sounded that way, it was not the point.
i hear ya. understood
