Just picked up a launchpad pro, it works off bus power or wallplug for standalone. I plan to use it with iPad so I need to grab a new CCK to use with it. Does anyone use the version that allows you to plug in the iPad while it’s being used? I was wondering if this would provide the bus power necessary meaning I could skip the launchpads wall plug, I usually carry a lightning cable anyway. It may well just be there to charge the iPad but I was thinking it might work. These type ones
I don’t have a launchpad, but it works with other buspowered devices
Bought one and gave it a go, the lightning CCK does not power the launchpad pro even plugged into the wall unfortunately. No bother, just glad I opted for the pro for the power supply. I’ll leave the thread here for future reference for other people or other CCK questions. Cheers anyway @jox
I guess whether the power supply for your iPad can also power the Launchpad depends on the power supply. The stock iPad power supply is 20W. I have an Anker 4-port charger that is 40W and does seem to charge the iPad significantly faster - probably has the juice to power a wider variety of USB devices.
Hmm, The launchpad takes 12v 1500ma so that should mean it’ll run on 18w. I’m assuming the iPad is drawing power too so that probably changes it. I’d have to test it with a more powerful charger. Would there be any possibility of issues from sending too much power to the iPad? Currently the iPad alone makes launchpad power on and off repeatedly and nothing changes when adding the stock Apple wall charger
Edit: @GovernorSilver , just bought a more powerful charger, it works! One less wire. Cheers!
