Introducing Tonverk

I saw it here somewhere.

So for me the good point is the ARP to external midi. The bad is no multitrack ins over USB. The remaining question : Is the Single player machine able to act as a Static machine and play hour long sample?

lol

Glad i wasnt the only one i ordered too :+1:

Honestly, the sound design nerd in me is kind of disappointed it doesn’t have some sort of MSEG type LFO like octatrack nor parameter slides. Was hoping the modulation envelope would be just that, but it’s just an ADSR. Though it’s definitely amazing it can be assigned to various targets like the LFOs

Love the psychedelic sounding effects though, might buy it just for those.

EZ-bots ad-libs while working on the tonverk are todays best sample worthies

that’s a shame about parameter slides, I feel this kind of ruins recording in live automation into my DTII, I was hoping this would include them.

Was it really so that you can’t automate/p-lock sample start and end points?

Same here. I just bought a Digitakt 2 and was afraid I’d want to send it right back to Sweetwater if I watched the release video for Tonverk.

But I feel no GAS at all. Everything on offer here - effects, the routing, and the multisampling - all seem like something I’d rather do on a computer instead of a small screen.

That said, I am really impressed by the new platform. It’s obviously got a lot of power under the hood and Elektron has clearly been developing the shared codebase between devices very thoughtfully. I think they’re going to reap the benefits of that care and attention for years.

Hats off to them.

cooled off from the excitement of the promo.

I look forward to getting this in the new year, looks like it will have years worth of exploring.

the effects, routing / buss options look super impressive.

A beautiful new device that is decidedly not for me - and that’s ok! On a personal level, I really wish there was a dedicated mode for long-form audio pieces to support things like morphing found sound textures. Imo, the big miss is class-compliant audio in via the USB ports. As it is, this feels like a hamstrung version of Logic’s multi-sampler in a box - though, as always, the new QOL features like subtracks, bus sequencing, etc. would be lovely to see on other boxes!

I just realized…still no random mode for the arpeggiator, seriously ?
It’s ā€œsurprisingā€ā€¦

Just purchased. Didn’t even read all of the specs, when I saw multi sampling and polyphony I pressed the buy button. Oh wow. Looking around in the room to see what has to go. Not an easy decision.

God I wish p-slides were more prevalent across the lineup. The DNII aches for them.

considering what this could have been - from listening to the demos so far - massively disappointing.

Quite curious about using this as a sequencer/controller for a DAW.

All that Elektron sequencing goodness over 12 MIDI tracks with 16 MIDI CC controls on each track sounds pretty dope (am I allowed to use that word at 45?!). I enjoy sound design with powerful VST synths and FX, but sequencing on the computer leaves me cold for the most part.

Perhaps a good halfway house. And, of course, I can multi-sample my VST or just have fun loading random sample packs onto the Tonverk SD card and mangling them.

At the price, it’s very tempting.

Im thinking the same OT DTll or Digi ll

Or keep them all lol

Appart from Elektron, I don’t know arps without random…

But TV has probability per note, not per step, so it can be used as a kinda random arp…

Long term reviews will show how people feel about song composition on it. My impression is that a lot of production time is going to spent on sequencer programming and configuring FX here. Will that lead to creative blocks? Will be interesting to see how people feel about starting a project, taking a break, and then getting back into it to see if they can pick up as easily as where they left off. The more you have to program, the more you have to look.

I think a lot of Elektronauts will come to the realization they prefer the simpler/faster/more readable layout of the digis.
