You don’t have enough info to establish that, a few adaptors would need to be tested
I have. But no harm in discussing the issue.
Sure.
I just wanted them to be aware of this.
Weird. Someone else reported a loose SD card lock too…
Looks like you can do that - buses and tracks are amongst the options for the inputs, and buses can be routed to a specific output.
Following the recent firmware update, which unfortunately did not resolve the MIDI jitter issues I’ve been experiencing with sequences sent from my Hapax, I’ve decided to return the Tonverk to Sweden tomorrow. Despite hoping the update would address these timing problems, the jitter persists, making it difficult to achieve the tight, precise sequencing that’s essential for my workflow.
I’ve captured a video snippet below where you can clearly observe the MIDI clock jumping and exhibiting the timing inconsistencies that have been problematic with my setup.
Elektron said they would fix the jitter problem in October.
Just a suggestion:
You could also ask the seller if they would extend the returns period.
"We’re also nearly there with the next OS, which will address the MIDI timing jitter (causing sync issues) and Auto Sampler latency, as well as adding further refinements. These issues are related, so fixing one will take care of the other. For that reason we want to ensure the solution we are currently testing is watertight. We’re aiming to release this in October. "
Another thing that Elektron could proactively do to earn back trust: offer an extension for return period for everyone who bought TV from them directly. „We’re aware of the issue and confident we‘ll fix it by the end of October. We will extend our return window until we have delivered this update.“
What’s stopping you from asking?
What’s stopping them from doing this? I‘d prefer it if companies were upfront instead of waiting for people to beg. I‘m sure there’s a lot of people who don’t even know what you’re suggesting is an option or wouldn’t dare to do so.
I don’t have a TV. I just think that there’s some things Elektron could do proactively to earn back trust, that’s one of them.
Do you really think your suggestion has any chance of becoming reality? Come on…. You don’t even have a dog in the race, you don’t even own one but you’ve commented so many times in the TV threads with so many opinions…. well, mostly the exact same opinion restated many times actually……
I don’t know why this seems so outlandish but you’re right, I should stop caring.
I guess I‘m more interested in this than I should be because I went through this exact thing with Bento a few months ago and was sure at the time that this wouldn’t happen with Elektron gear.
i think interested buyers (especially loyal elektron fans) have as much of a right to be frustrated with all the issues as anyone who already owns the tv
The problem is clearly the SD card itself the lock switch is loose. If I don’t receive a new card I will return it to the retailer as it’s only a week since purchase.
Confirming you can send incoming audio to a buss and that the bus can be routed out via a certain output. No recording necessary.
Edit: looks like another poster confirmed it from the manual. I checked on the machine itself as well.
fresh
the collective indignation at the release of an unfinished product is warranted and it’s okay to hold your goat to a higher standard
the very understandable wave of criticism was productive in that it resulted in elektron subsequently opening up the necessary communication involving a roadmap for remedial firmware
if tv is still being sold with broken core functionality, then elektron should continue to be held accountable until it’s fixed
i will gladly shut up and buy one once it is
Thank you.
I find it hard to believe that, if Elektronauts were inexplicably quiet about the shortcomings of TV’s current firmware, Elektron would fail to take timely action to remedy them. Give Elektron some credit, please. IMO, they knew the firmware was buggy when they released it and were already in the process of not just squashing bugs also but learning about their new operating system more deeply. That would have happened regardless of forum posters crying for a diaper change.
+1 to everyone who expressed some faith in Elektron to fix their problems as they have done in the past!
The most frustrated users, AFAIK, are those trying to incorporate TV into their current rig (e.g. the timing issues). Conversely, the most satisfied users, I’m guessing, are those using it as a standalone box.
Isn’t it considered good practice, when exploring a new machine, to use it in standalone mode? Premature optimization is the root of all evil. I’d be pretty pissed if I prepared a million samples for the new machine, only to have things get irrevocably screwed up. If I reflected on things a bit more, however, I’d realize I only need to direct my frustration at myself…frustration for moving to quickly, for treating my process and my material as precious when I should have instead been exploring and producing more modest musical examples.
Some “outsider” observations of how this thread has developed –
-
The defenders of the faith were complaining about folks reactions to the bugs and premature release and whether to return their instruments in the main TV threads.
-
So somebody created a separate thread specifically for discussion around those points.
-
The defenders of the faith showed up in this thread to complain that anybody would dare call out shortcomings on the TV or Elektron’s release process
Are snide comments like “forum posters crying for a diaper change” really helpful / in the spirit of the forum?
Lots of gear and manufacturers come under harsh scrutiny here…Props to Elektron for both sponsoring this community and not playing favorites when the criticism is directed at them.
