Introducing Digitone II

Oh man. Going past quarter-note resolution, a whole new world awaits you! (Unless you’ve been using microtiming…)

that does make me wonder what a solution for more resolution would be interface-wise … maybe like magnifier buttons that would expand show you 16th/32nd notes instead of quarters? maybe it would show you the steps on the sequencer still but just a portion of the bar represented by the 16 buttons?

Which should corresponds to 160-240 bpm for you, in musical terms ? :exploding_head:

well, I’m in a metal band so that tracks

And your patterns are 40-60 bpm. Impressive !

All hail Khanate!

I made a full track with the string sounds! I’m definitely going to explore the comb filter thing more. Making patches with it feels very different from making “normal” synth patches, which was very refreshing

So happy to hear you working with this device! Were those fade-out sounds from FM Drum? I am not sure of my reading of your screen.

Nice. This one would fit in the Halloween challenge too:

Yeah! The kick and bass are one voice with some p-locked reverb and delay here and there, and when I’m doing random/wild tweaks some of that carried over to the next pattern.

Loving those strings, but also the hats!

Amazing track, it sounds like something you’d hear from within the Great Pyramid of Giza with the mummies dancing around.

Loved this! Thanks for sharing…

I just got a digitone 2 and digitakt 2. I have em synced up via midi and Digitone as the master. Pattern changes, tempo, etc, all work fine. But, how do I actually record my Digitakt parts? There is no way to actually start recording on the Digitakt from the Digitone and if I started recording on the Digitakt the Digitone won’t start because it is the master. Am I supposed to create a midi track on the Digitone and sequence the digitakt from the digitone itself? Obviously programming drums on the digitakt is no issue, but for recording chromatic sample parts I am not quite sure how people do this.

Make the Digitakt Master.

Won’t I have the same problem, just going the other way? Now I won’t be able to record the digitone parts while the digitakt plays

Sampling external sources on the fly isn’t possible on the Digitakt.

I am not trying to sample any external source on the fly. I have both digitone and digitakt synced up. I just want to live record (not sample or external sample) on the digitakt. I have a piano sound loaded on my digitakt. I hit play on the Digitone…how do I record my Digitakt sequence? There is no way to trigger record from the Digitone to the digitakt. Do I have to try and press record/play at the same time? Do I just use a midi track and sequence the digitakt from the digitone?

Press Rec + Play for live recording….on the Digitakt.

At any time, you can Rec+Play on any Elektron device. The thing is you want the recording to start on the first step so if you start the recording on the DT and then on the DN, the DT recording will reset to the first step when you enable recording on the DN (Rec+ Play). Not ideal because you have to start the DT first (if the DN is Master).
