Introducing Digitakt II

Good to know - I rely on global mixer as I use a Faderfox to handle track levels. Find it really handy being able to transition from to different songs (patterns) and know that tracks aren’t going to jump back to the pattern level. Hope they fix that soon

I’m wondering if ā€˜Perform Kit’ is the reason the Global FX preferences aren’t yet implemented.

I could see there being some logic there that needs to be worked out.

Is anyone still using the func+no shortcut instead of the perform kit button? Are there any new possibilities when using both in combination?

Just chiming in… I don’t have enough free time for my new toy to fully utilize it yet, but every day I become more certain that it’s another winner for Elektron. I learn something new every time I turn it on. The kits are super welcome and quite fast to distribute to patterns once you get the hang of it. Again… the old projects I imported sound great to me. Maybe not conpletely identical, but I have very quickly managed to make them sound better than before with new features, especially chorus and added 8 available tracks. It’s amazing!

The wait is killing me :see_no_evil:

It is my preferred moment when acquiring a new gear like before christmas as a child

New to Digitakt, and I haven’t used overbridge either — I’m wondering if the Digitakt II compressor will affect the tracks when they are recorded into a DAW through overbridge?

I find changing between busy patterns has a noticeable delay/crossfade now too.

Delay like the sound stops for some milliseconds? Or it fades in the start of the new pattern?

To add to this, live recording retrigs is awkward and clunky, it seems to overdub any previous retrig rolls with silence if you don’t continue to perform and then end the live recording right on the bar. It’s not being a ā€œlooperā€ it just overwrites every cycle, whether that’s with silence or new retrigs.

Maybe I’m missing something but it seems unintuitive and borderline nonfunctional compared to recording in hi hat rolls on something like the KO II, where I add some 1/8ths and then pepper some faster retrigs over top of them on the next cycle pass.

Just called up vintage king in Detroit and they said they had two in stock and ready to ship. I already got my shipment notification.

Should be one left for someone else!!

is this a bug?

Both but it seems covered up by a tail and crossfade. Maybe it’s just the FX. I honestly haven’t had much time with it yet but it stood out to me.

The obvious answers :-
The preset / demo project takes a while to load
Changing patterns is normally when a pattern ends … the quickest way is to stop , change pattern , press play
If the patterns is 128 steps it’ll take longer to switch
Many demo patterns also have delay and reverb which is likely to continue last switching to a new pattern
Try the latest firmware as you might been hearing subtle crackle sounds during any latter swap , giving impression of a tiny weird delay

I haven’t pushed mine hard enough yet, but I did notice the very memory full demo patterns project loads for a long time. All the imported projects from dt1 (which even there were not fully filled up), for me load lightning fast. I think around a second, two at most.

Thanks for the heads-up! Looks like I made it into the first Perfect Circuit shipment, notified this morning, expecting it next week…

I had a similar issue when I put in an order on the release day. The confirmation email said the item is in stock available immediately. I reached out to perfect circuit when I didn’t hear from them about the shipment.

They told me it was a glitch in the system and they expected the first delivery in a few weeks.

Today I received the shipping details.

The stereo mix channels (L+R) will / can contain the compressed sound. The individual channels won’t, which makes sense as the compressor is for the master bus only.

That’s great, congrats! They said they only got 6 units this week so you must’ve been one of the first 6 to checkout.
