I’m curious, what is the reason to increase the internal storage to 20GB rather than adding an SD Card slot?
10.14.6 (Mojave) here (on my music mac) + Transfer 1.8.6 works just fine, for hours (which is btw. necessary
).
Right now transferring the OT sample lib to DT2. Tru Zen.
Because Elektron knows the spec and limits of the storage? With SD-cards there are all sorts of spec and speed ratings that can create support questions ![]()
Same as with previous DT. (Hidden in the archives of Elektron, only for the initiated).
I could just deduct from the effect (on me):
- spend more time sampling with the machine
- spend more time creating with what you have instead of chasing the perfect sample
- valuing the machine more, because it contains all the sounds and all the settings
- better focus (either transfer samples for hours once in a while - or create music)
- 2017 I was very sceptical, too. But ended up making a lot of things with the DT and it didn’t bother me
- I am glad, however, that Transfer works for backups (have reused samples from the DT in different machines like Polyend Tracker
I am noticing a few nested folders with the Cymatics collection, so I am wondering if this might be the issue. Now I’m manually creating folders and moving things over so it’s only 1 to 2 levels deep and it seems more stable.
Crossing fingers
Yes, I also create new folders in Transfer on DT2 (like “Octatrack”) and transfer only 1 level folders (screenshot). That might be why it works.
Keep it simple they always say
Thanks!
short update on that:
Elektron gave me a preliminary confirmation that this is too loose and it needs a fix.
I ordered from them on announcement day, so glad to hear they are in transit. Guessing my local store will have in in the next day or two.
This sounds somehow unsettling. ![]()
Par for the course. In the early DT1 days people were getting machines with the trig keys inserted in the wrong place etc;
Just stopped by the store to pay up the balance on my pre-order. Estimated arrival to the store is May 16th :(. This was the third pre-order with the store (massive nation-wide chain in Canada) and was done minutes after the release video dropped
Getting surgery done on May 6th and was hoping to have something before then while I’m recovering for a couple of weeks.
All of these DTII posts are killing me!!!
Eesh, that’s a while to wait still, but then again I don’t even have a date on my Nightlife order (yet). Sometimes with L&M it helps to have a friend on the inside, it can be such a leviathan to navigate (special) orders there. Good luck with the surgery!
I went in at 11:10 CST (10 minutes after the release video started) and pre-ordered immediately. I was the third order of 30 available units (so I’m told). So, I’ve got a unit out of the first batch. I just know from experience that they drag their asses shipping from the main warehouse in Ontario. The May 16th estimate that’s showing on their system could just be a made up guess-timate. It’s usually about 10 business days for them to get it to Winnipeg.
I’m just being impatient ![]()
Just got confirmation from SW that my DT2 is en route! Should be here this Friday.
In the meantime I’ve watched nearly every tutorial video, even the three hour ones. I’m sure relearning the UI heirarchy and muscle memory will take some time, but so stoked to dig into all the new functionality and sound design features.
Nightlife has some crazy prices on the e25 boxes if anyone was looking for one, like $899 CAD after 10% discount
In the pattern called TrackerLuv, this method was used to create the lead sound. It uses a looping simple single-cycle waveform as the source and then the comb filter (with LFO-modulation) to animate it in hard-sync style. It also uses LFO to give it the gated tremolo effect.
I also recommend trying pre-filter SRR (and maybe BR) to give the simple waveform some extra crunch and character prior to giving it the comb treatment.
Im no DT maven by any means, and I can’t exactly remember what Matthew said (if its as above it deffo seems like an oversight on his part) but for me its not really about ctrl all. its more general workflow. The ability to mess with your song in general knowing you’re not doing anything semi permanent, or having to func no / reload the project / pattern when done. I personally find it clunky.
I also think now that we can loop single pages the option to save a single page would be cool.
Regarding the 400MB RAM limit and the DDR3L limit of 1024MB – I was hoping the ADSP-21569 supported multiple DDR3L ICs via fly-by or T-branch topology, but it appears the DMC only supports point-to-point interfacing:
