Introducing Digitakt II

I like the new approach. That it is linked to the pattern including all changes until you decide otherwise. In AR I messed up patterns by saving changes to kits.

Thats is not a bug, it’s the kids lock mode

Can you give me the video with time stamp for this section? I am still not completely understanding how this might benefit my workflow/performance

Here are elements of answer:

Mine arrived with a smudge and a long scratch on the screen protector. Not a big deal but very strange.

Beside that the unit looks and feels perfect. The DT2 is a beast of a sound making machine! Very impressed so far.

Which one please ? I couldn’t find it in sounds presets either.
Or a recipe…Sounds great!

I found it kind of interesting that during that segment where he was talking about the Control-All on the original DT, he seemed to not fully know what he was talking about.

He said in order to use Control-All on the DT 1 that you must save your pattern before you begin changing parameters, and then you have to reload the pattern when you’re done. He said how that causes a lot of confusion and turns “people” off from using Control-All live.

Sure, that can be one way to do it, but Elektron made it so as long as you’re still holding TRK you can just press NO to revert the changes back. Nice and easy, no “goofy trip-up” there.

Alternatively, if you must let go of TRK for any reason after changing parameters, you can just copy the pattern before making any changes and simply paste it back when you’re done.
edit: -even if you’ve already moved onto the next pattern.
No saving/reloading necessary, just a quick paste.

I’ve been consistently playing live with the DT as my main music device for over 5 years and have never had a problem with this.
It was disappointing that he seemed to be blaming his personal shortcomings on the gear itself.

Not saying Perform Kit isn’t a great feature to implement (it really is), but to me it doesn’t seem as groundbreaking as he made it out to be when you know how to properly use Control-All in the first place.

Just seemed peculiar to me that someone who charges a good chunk of money for lessons on these devices doesn’t know some of the basic functionality/shortcuts.

Speaking from personal experience - I always back up but I have had songs that spread across multiple patterns. When you are doing CTRL+ALL changes and song mode is shuffling through patterns, sometimes you may think you’ve done a FUNC + NO and you’re in the clear, but another pattern might still have CTRL+ALL changes in it. AFAIK, FUNC + NO only reverts the pattern you are actively on. So you have to have a habit of going through every pattern and doing CTRL + NO on each one when you are done with such tinkering.

It would be nice if song mode had a toggle to automatically do a FUNC + NO revert on pattern switch.

True, but you can paste a pattern separate from the one you’re on.

For example, I’m on Pattern A01.
I copy the pattern before I know I’m about to Controll-All to mess it up.
Now lets say I forgot/choose not to to revert the changes before I move onto the next pattern, (A02 in this case).
While I’m on A02 I can still paste that original copy of A01 back onto the A01 slot.
I can’t think of a time where I’ve personally had an issue with these steps, but I still very much welcome Perform Kit mode!

Agreed! I’d argue for the toggle even when not on song mode; would be very useful to many people.

Mine just shipped from L&M in Canada. They have some online stock too if anyone up here was looking for a unit.

Anyone else experiencing constant crashes with Transfer and the DT][? I am trying to copy over a few GBs of Samples, and it crashes constantly after about 10 minutes of transferring the files.

Running Sonoma 14.3.1 and the latest version of Transfer.

Is there any other way of transferring files to the +Drive of the DT][ since it doesn’t mount as an external drive?

Here ! I have those issues. Mostly while trying to transfer a larger library with one shots ( Samples from Mars)

Mine crashed twice, but I was attempting to set up some midi & make a pattern whilst the samples were downloading. Maybe that was why. Left alone it seems ok.

Just seemed peculiar to me that someone who charges a good chunk of money for lessons on these devices doesn’t know some of the basic functionality/shortcuts.

Definitely agree that you were right to call this out - it’s hardly arcane DT knowledge.

Yeah, trying to move over a few GB of samples and one shots from Cymatics and it’s a crash fest after about 10 minutes.

I hope the LoopCloud integration gets updated soon. I really like managing my Samples in that app over Transfer…

The DT freezes as well in my case! Mhmm this is really a bummer and needs to be fixed

This is a huge win for me too. When using my DT1 for live performance (controlling things in Ableton Live via MIDI CC), I hated that I couldn’t reset the MIDI track parameters to a saved preset after tweaking them. Now that I can it’ll eliminate some ridiculous workaround plumbing I have set up in Live that involved a slight MIDI feedback loop risk.

Sweetwater says “ready to ship” and I got a call from them saying that it should ship out today. I ordered at 1:29pm Eastern time. Just a little info for any of y’all waiting on Sweetwater.
