Introducing Digitakt II

Does it do live looping aka quantized recording now?

Placed my preorder also in US. I wonder how long we can expect to wait for shipping?

yeah as soon as i’ve seen this, i cancelled my preorder elsewhere and ordered directly from Elektron. it would be a dream if it lands on the weekend!

Also useful as velocity layers for something like a sampled hihat.

why are the two ā€œIIā€ from ā€œDigitakt IIā€ under the screen and at the higher side not bold ?? it looks very strange, as if it was some kind of typo
I am not planning on buying one cause I have no money although I might eventually do it, because it is a great upgrade, but I guess that could drive me a little mad

Just want to add my congrats to everyone at Elektron . Not watched or listened to anything yet, but from the product description this sounds a fantastic upgrade. In fact it nails all three of my Digitakt v1 bug-bears, namely no time-stretching, mono samples, and limited effects (mkII adds chorus).

Probably going to be some time before I can justify the upgrade and I’m not even nearly done/bored with my mkI yet, but, hey, one day…

One thing I wasn’t clear on from the blurb: are there still single-cycle oscillators so Digitakt can pretend to be a synth?

Excellent work…!

128 steps = 8 pages.
Let’s say you want a 15/8 beat, can you get a step-per-page function so you don’t have to calculate?

In C-style programming languages, the || is the logical OR operator, so should we be pronouncing it ā€˜Digitakt-OR’?

I saw the new linear graphic of the Tune parameter. I will have to get used to it.

Can any of the folks who got one speak to any changes in file management?

I know its such an un-exciting thing to ask about, but I’m wondering if those new ā€œpresetsā€ or kits in any way capture a copy of the sample used.

I had a hard time feeling as free as I’d like to just sample any random noise and use it in a sound when I could accidentally delete the source material if I didn’t name or organize it properly.

The OTs method of capturing the samples within the project folder is great. I’d love this on the new DT along with a similar approach to sounds.

Then my ā€œrecordingsā€ folder can be a playground for sampling and resampling, and anything that ends up good can simply be saved as a preset without worry so I can clear the recordings and start fresh.

One more issue regarding the 66second limit:

Apparently the transfer rate is still 0.33 MB/s. That would mean that recording a long sample (like a 6 min eurorack performance, or some sort of solo instrument over the digi backing tracks) to a tethered phone/ipad/laptop and then using Transfer to dump it on the digitakt is going to transfer at almost the same rate of listening to the sound in real time.

I can’t comprehend what led to this decision outside of artificial product segmentation. It’s such a brilliant, capable box in so many ways just to be held back from its full potential.

EDIT: just under twice as fast, so, fine — it’s like loading the sample pitched up ten semitones.

This looks great, I will probably buy it and keep my mk1 for a while too.

@Elektron I read the description and I can’t help myself not to ask: Did you hired the poets Bjork warned us about in ā€˜89 to copyright the description or did you used AI?

Blessings of the moon upon your ancient rhythms! May the sound splinters heal your gas!

Is disappoint.

I really love the small details , and i really hope it will be implemnted to syntakt , the page up and down , some menu layout , and i really hope syntakt will get the Euclidean , and fx (chorus , SR / comp)
I really hope they give syntakt some love as well …
I wanted to get a digitakt at fist , the limitation made me skip it for ths yntakt , now digitakt MKII is out lol bad for my wallet lol
Solid release in my case .

Lol nothing new here. We get jacked on software too when there’s no physical shipping costs involved. It is what it is…

Can we assume that the LoopCloud feature they announced last with the Digitakt will work with the DT ][ ?

Anyone on the beta team know if this is possible with the new hardware?

Looks good, but I guess it’s going to have the ā€œicky sticky buttonā€ problem from humid Japanese summers, which counts me out :pensive:
