Introducing Digitakt II

Joderrr !
I’ve been scanning for the last 2 weeks in the internet for any info I could get before getting my first Elektron device. Then last monday I finally bought the Digitakt, which I received today at 6pm. I was so happy it took less than 3 days to put my hands on it after buying, so I switched it on, played a couple factory presets, and went to the www to check some YouTube saved videos to start diving on the brick.

You know what I’ve just found out… MK2 ???
Joder joder joder
:joy::joy::joy:

Hopefully tomorrow I’m gonna give it back and get the new one.

Sorry for not watching the loopop yet, but any word on whether you can start playback on the current sequencer page rather than the start of the pattern?

especially if there was (there isn’t yet?) a quick way to reorganize the Pool … working akin to a reduced version of the aforementioned MultiMap - it’s for sure useful

Where is the download link? If you were able to download it via electron.se could you post it?

i don’t think so, you can selectively loop a page(or more) of a Track, but not for ALL tracks afaict

The Mk1 pans, this does too

I doubt it. It’ll almost certainly be months - if not a year or more - between DT2 and an upgraded DN or ST. Additionally, if somebody is looking for a synth, they really shouldn’t be buying a sampler.

I think it really depends upon how you use the DT. I can see DAW-less users and people that craft the majority of their sounds within the DT loving this. I mean… it’s double the track count! some people have two DT’s or use a DT with an OT just so they can get (most of) what the DTII has.

I mainly use the DT in conjunction with a DAW, plus DN and ST (and more). so I don’t run up against the track count and don’t care about stereo samples too much. it’s basically a really great drum machine for me. the new goodies would add some fun, but I’m not dying for them enough to not wait it out until I see a second-hand deal on one in a few months or something.

awesome time to buy a DT though! they’re like $450 right now.

Yes. You can loop the sequencer at a specific page.

Yes! Hope Elektron will have those on all new devices from now on.

Very logical update this DT2. Well done Elektron.

No. Balance.
Only on the left. :content:

Out of sheer curiosity I checked Reverb this morning with the intention to compare to after the announcement.

There were 59 DTs listed. Now there are 72. That’s quite the jump, and I assume as the days go by the number will increase substantially.

No polyphony on the MIDI sequencing is an anti-GAS and a pass for me.

Yes !
No more “Sounds”, name is now “Presets” because it’s both DT2 patches and MIDI conf. I had wanted this for such a long time… So glad!

Zero crossings?

It does 4 iirc

Loopop’s style is generally pretty dry and humorless, but occasionally he injects a little joke. I liked this line:

“The track labels are gone…but there’s still an unwritten rule that you’ve gotta use Track 5 for Cowbell.”

you can selectively snap iirc with a modifier key

@_Niko I have another question, but I am afraid of the answer :
Does GRID match zero-crossings automatically as on DT1 ?
It can be very annoying for wavetables tuning, and it can modify a groove using Linear Locks; an option as on OT would be welcome !
