Guess you would need 2 Kenton USB host and a MIDImerger for this. Or a MiO xm or xl.
Thank you I will have a look! I will probably combine several intech midi controllers
gotta say itâs hard to go back to some of the older stuff after using dt2 for a while
after some (actually a lot) of bug-squashing and a firmware update or two it will get to the point where some of the older machines wonât cut it
obviously itâs a totally different beast but i felt like i was hitting a wall with the a4 today after i couldnât page loop, cheat with the (parameter-lockable!) euclidean mode, only had 64 steps, didnât have a LAST trig condition, etc.
going back to the dt2 was like a huge sigh of relief- you donât realize how game-changing the new features are until you step up to an elektron box that doesnât have them
now if only i didnât have to anxiously and dreadfully wait for the white bars of death to contaminate my screen-
Next live tif for me is DTII and A4 in OT.
OT is still the best for mangling incoming sound. And is fast at loading long samples.
But DTII is so fun to play with ^^
To be honest: That Elektron still did not release a firmware that fixes low-input level and random sample detune, makes me worry a lot
Donât.
Youâve heard about random LFOâ slew?
The phase parameter makes no sense on random, so instead they had it introducing some portamento so to say.
Perfect for random sample detune.
I noticed Slew isnât available on LFOs on MIDI track though. I was sad about it. Or did I trip?
Dunno, if we talk about the same thing:
It happens from time to time, that a loaded sample that worked fine is suddenly out of tune. Itâs easy to fix by turning DT2 off and on again, but thatâs not something one wants to have on a live set.
If youâre talking about input over USB, thereâs a setting to choose up to +18db in audio routing.
Havenât used that yet. Talking about line in. Even if I bring line in volumes near the distortion level, it is not nearly as loud as the samples. To have that even, I need to tune down track volume a lot, when routing external instrument into DT2
A workaround (until firmware release) route your external gear to audio interface, use input over USB and adjust the db level in audio routing as needed.
Another possible work around is to turn down the pattern volume. This is the volume controlled by the level knob thatâs in the first page of the mixer [FUNC] + [LFO].
It attenuates all the track volumes. I overlooked this feature for a few years on the original DT. Itâs very handy.
Thanks all for the tips! I am using my DT2 daily and found ways to get around all that.
I just mentioned them because that are bugs known since the first days after launch, that were not there on DT1 and are still not fixed.
Letâs me thinks itâs either not important for them to fix awailable issues or (as lots already stated before) are hardware issues.
If thatâs the case itâs very very bad to wait that long as we already left the return-policy times now. And as I saw them fixing bugs quite quickly in the past and there is no official statement about all that, I mentioned that I am worried.
And as already stated before: having samples go out of tune is bad, as the workaround of rebooting the device is nothing thatâs doable in every usecase.
I donât know what you count as âofficialâ but itâs pretty clear from posts in the bugs thread from an Elektron employee and from mods, that beta testing of the firmware is well underway, and appears to be nearing completion. So they are hard at work fixing bugs, itâs just not all rolled into a firmware/software release yet.
There was a hint above:
You did not trip, at least about this
MIDI LFOs are pretty âlow resâ (nowhere near as fast as internal ones) so I doubt theyâd add slew - unless they beef up MIDI LFOs at some point
[edit] I was wrong! As @sezare56 says below, it already exists but is just named incorrectly
I understand the concern since itâs a new piece of gear, but Elektron has never not fixed major bugs soon after release as far as I know. I know they donât always address peoplesâ wish-lists right away, and some smaller things slip by for a bit sometimes (probably due to triage) but items like the ones youâve mentioned should be addressed soon I would think. I wouldnât worry.
A slew over midi is quite errmmmâŚ.
You need to define how many ticks, and give care to not send too much data over this protocol.
Better slew in your destination.
