Introducing Artcore - a new home for electronic music

Hi @HisMostDarxxxellent. Thanks for your praise and detailed feedback.

It could maybe be more obvious but you can swipe right on the genres and you will discover Techno and many more.

Thanks for pointing out Drill, we currently Don’t have that genre listed. As you’ll see from the large list, putting individual genres as top level would make the UI a bit unmanageable so I think maybe Drill could go under HipHop/Rap since it it’s seems to be a form of rap. The top parents are more for grouping in the UI, it will show Drill as the track genre in all the places that matter.

Grime is a tricky one but I think it’s a club music so Electronic/DJ is probably still the best place for it, unless you think it would sit better under one of the other top levels.

The greyed out genres simply don’t have any music in them yet, so it saves you an unnecessary click. I still want to list them though to show that the music is welcome!

Good points on keeping an eye on new genres, we’ll do that and thanks again both for the critical feedback and the positivity!

Post here once you’ve uploaded so we can checkout your music!

Nice! - what’s your artist name - maybe can you post your artist page url here so we can visit it.

If you put a youtube channel ID, it will display your latest video too.

Trying the listening now, looking at the playback quality and such. Only thing glaring out at me is I touched the pitch fader and I can’t quite get it back to my track’s original BPM

A little undo arrow should appear that lets you reset it.

However, as you say, the double click might be more intuitive so I’ll see if we can do that too.

Just trying Artcore now and seems easy to upload so far.

Here’s the first release live release I have:

Two more almost uploaded that are released next month.

Any way to set same tags for all tracks in an album? Having to set them one by one is not ideal.

Nice, if you put one of the track links, you will get the embedded player appear:

I still need to make it for releases too.

Good idea.
There are a couple of ways I could do this:

  1. Have a input field in the release section that will prepopulate the tracks which can be overridden.
  2. Allow copying from one track to a) all the rest b) to the next (or from the previous )

Do you think one of these would work best, or have you another suggestion?

Thanks for the answer, I think the first option would be the best, or even just a check box after you filled the first track tags for “use same tags for all tracks)” as Amuse does.

Could this also be done for the genres as well or any of the fields that are duplicated across all the tracks for a release.

Also, noticed an issue. I uploaded the track “Slipstream”, hit publish, and then the site threw an error, so I re-published and now I have two copies. Minor issue, I just need to delete a copy, but I didn’t notice that last night. And I walked away during this publish, so I didn’t see what the error was, I just noticed that I was still on the release page when I got back and not back to my artist management page, so I published again. I did bunch of releases last night and only had that one issue, so not a big deal.

Looks like it was a result of failing to send the email. I’ve removed the duplicate track/release and will see how I can make it more resilient. Thanks for reporting!

It seems serendipitous that this seems to be taking off just as Bandcamp gets flushed down the toilet.

Dudes gonna sell to Epic for 500 million, and then he’ll buy us all OTMK3s to thank us for the moral support.

haha, if I ever got 500mil, the first thing I’d do is pay one of you to teach me how to use my Octa Mk2

Any option to not get an email each time a release is modified ( I mean I added some tags and corrected some spelling…), because as a label and artist at the same time, I wish I don’t !

Yes, I can sympathise, because I get all of them.

Maybe I can limit it so updates only go to artists and only for material changes - eg when the artists/allocations or prices change.

As a label, would you ever want an email for updates?

I don’t consider this usefull or mandatory but I can understand if some could think otherwise…

Maybe settings for this could work. I can see the solo artist/label head where they don’t need a notification every time something happens. However, I’ve also been part of a team where if I didn’t get an automated email from the service telling me something changed, I wouldn’t have known anything was happening.

Updates Updates Updates…

Just wanted to let you know about a bunch of improvements we’ve made to Artcore!

  • We’ve given it a lick of paint to make it visually a bit more professional looking
  • QR codes, share buttons and embedding code are available on track and release pages.
  • You can now copy genre and tags from one track to the rest and paste in a list of tags.
  • There’s an autosave feature to reduce likelihood of losing work if there is any problem saving.
  • We’ve added some ARIA tags to guide screen-reads for visually impaired users but if you are visually impaired and have any issues, please let us know and we’ll see what we can do to improve things further.
  • New genres that have been requested.
  • If you have multiple profiles, Manage Music takes you to the seller page to make navigating simpler.
  • We’ve enabled purchasing for Australian and most Canadian users.
  • You can now specific artists as Main, Remix and Feature Artist.

And for the pièce de résistance…
- Artists and Labels can download a 15s video clip made from their artwork and music suitable to be uploaded to Instagram for promoting your music

Don’t forget to checkout latest blog features and interviews. including the first instalment on female pioneers in electronic music

Thanks!
