IKEA-hacked bamboo Elektron stands

So looking at fabricating an ideal Elektron stand solution (hidden PSUs, slick cable routing etc) for a while now, and after assembling a few of the “Bullig” boxes for our media center I noticed the dimensions of the shorter version could work for Elektron as an elegant minimal stand. Sliding pads and rubber buttons added underneath make it easy to slide into position but keep it from moving when you’re banging out trigs or crossfader thwacking. The holes on the sides could be used to connect multiples together (something I will try very soon) as well as brackets to support fx pedals, small synths or similar as sidecars for the Elektron. A front panel could be installed to hide cords or psu when seen from the front. Three wide with space between for pedals will fit my cabinet perfectly… will keep everyone updated with pix. Till then anyone can build these and see how it works in their setups :slight_smile:

Thanks man… just at the proof-of-concept stage but could be a platform for future ideas, as well as a robust live-performance version. My engineering buddy and I have some design goals that haven’t been addressed yet in one product, so trying to see what the simplest and most elegant solutions might be. I like the idea of using bamboo for the main material, and the use of off-the-shelf parts will eventually become more custom or “bespoke” to really make it a turn-key solution.

I don’t really understand the point of elevating the units without any tilt. Looks like it could be a bit unsturdy too. The other common idea hack, with the shelf brackets seems more ideal.

Funny how we always want what we don’t have. The white Octa looks sweet. Meanwhile, I’m wanting the black faceplates for MD and MM. :yum:

that bamboo texture looks ace, specially those expedit compartments. Will have to check if those are available in my local ikea, thx
