Iloud MTMs (probably other Ilouds as well) can be set to 80 hz hi pass for easy sub integration. So any sub that can be set to 80 hz (which is probably all subs) will work nicely.
Yes the crossover is key with the sub and monitors, but like you said 80hz is pretty standard. So you can definitely mix a sub from different brands.
The obvious thing to watch for when doing that though is to get a sub to match the monitors. What I mean by that is if you have Adam d3vs or iloud micros, get a small sub that compliments them. So that the setup is balanced.
I’ve been looking at adding a sub to my iloud MTMs as the port chuffing at louder volume when the monitors are set to go down to 40hz or 50hz is annoying.
The advantage of something like this ik sub for me is just to have a contained and calibrated system, with less plugs and wiring, that would come with another hardware calibration box in the chain.
Well, Adam D3Vs don’t have a high pass. ![]()
Oh well. I guess I can try to sell them. Uggh.
You can plug your current monitors into the iSub and it will take care of the crossover, no need to set anything on the monitors. It will then do the automatic calibration for the monitors and the sub.
Yes, in that case the iLoud Sub (at least according to the sales blurb) should actually be the perfect option for you, as there is a setting for crossover on the back of the sub that is Arc X (it also has the options for the standard type settings 50hz & 80hz). With it set to Arc X I then assume that the blurb comes into effect “iLoud Sub is the only subwoofer that automatically calibrates itself and any connected monitors to your room, regardless of brand, providing balanced, accurate, and reliable sound across the entire audio spectrum, from bottom to top.”
And as @dr_laemmerbein said Arc X should calibrate for both monitors and sub.
Ok. I’ll give them a try. Thanks everyone!
I use Yamaha HS8 with the HS8S sub. Never understood the people that say you shouldn’t mix with a sub - can’t mix what you can’t hear… ![]()
Looks like this sub really is the biz! Apparently does what you were looking for?

This seems very cool. Had been contemplating if I should get the Arc Studio as DSP magic for my HS80Ms in my untreated living room. But maybe this sub is the better option.
I was considering either the Arc studio or the Audient Oria mini but I have been looking at getting a sub for a few months. So this iLoud sub seems to tick a few boxes in one go.
If I were on the market for a Sub, this would be a solid contender.
I wasn’t in the market for a sub but now I am!
So did anyone establish if the Adam’s D3Vs will work accurately with the iLoud Sub? If so, I’m ordering. This is a problem I’ve been trying to find a solution to for months, and just in time for Christmas!
According to the advertising material, yes it would work with the Adams as the blurb states “iLoud Sub is the only subwoofer that automatically calibrates itself and any connected monitors to your room, regardless of brand, providing balanced, accurate, and reliable sound across the entire audio spectrum, from bottom to top.”
This seems to be due to the option on the back for crossover, that has 3 options, 50hz, 80hz and Arc x.
This looks like a nice add on to my MTM’s. I really enjoy hardware dsp room calibration. I hope they gonna sell this unit for a cheaper option without the calibration mic and calibration software included because i already have those as part of my MTM Mk2 set purchase. Bought separately those products are worth €180,- .
I got the Adam’s sub, I think I paid about that same amount. It is cool and supposedly is tuned to work well with the Adam’s speakers but I don’t know… I like the setup. I have the tiny Adam’s they used to make before the a series went digital.
Here’ Loopop’s review.
The Loopop video seemed to be positive, without being really positive. He seemed to like it, I think?
I’m really keen to get a sub, so this seems like a perfect addition to my iLoud MTM mk1s.
I personally think that I’ll wait for the price to drop a bit though.
Mine has arrived. Quite impressed so far. I’m not sure what the front LED going red means as there’s no mention in the manual - I assume overload. After running the Arcx alignment my room sounds overly bright. Work in progress.
