and why a marketing pro would have never called it 8/11
so being that ‘Bandcamp’ has had a singular meaning forever… I don’t think it fits the business model. I remember when it started it literally had to overcome this issue… and has done well since, but still , the name has that vibe.
Almost everyone I talk who isn’t a musician has never heard of bandcamp. Some have heard of Soundcloud.
They could just rebrand to BC, and that would do. Bandcamp could be in the legacy/history. And then add a streaming model, something different to all the other competition. Could blow up. But I like bandcamps current financial model. Wouldn’t want artists to become further undermined. But their offering does today feel sorta old school. The app is pretty hokey
RecordDome. Where your Dubstep meats TrapBeats and EDM.
Bandcamp is fine imho. It might have a certain meaning or connotation for probaply many people, but I don’t think the majority sees it that way.
If the name was so bad, they would have changed it I guess?
I dunno, but my wife played the flute at school and went to band camp and she’s awesome.
She assures me it was nothing like the Bandcamp depicted by Willow off of Buffy.
