i don’t understand, i read everywhere that to save a pattern we have to save part. OK so on part 4 i wrote a midi pattern with trigs etc etc.
after saving ALL the parts i change some trigs to experiment on midi channel, then i reload the part and the pattern i saved do not reload.
trigs are lost.
i know there is a ton of tread for this but if when you save a part you do not save the trigs of the pattern? how do you save the this?
Parts hold all the data for setting up tracks, channels, default samples, machines, FX configs etC. They don’t hold any Pattern data at all.
@Microtribe likes to say the Parts hold everything from the transport controls upwards.
Patterns are saved with the Project.
Patterns include a link to the Part they are played through. The association is Pattern-Part, not Part-Pattern. When you choose a Part from the Part menu, the Pattern-Part link is saved with the Pattern.
If you want to save a “safe” version of a Pattern, play about with new trigs, then reload the safe ones… I think you need to save the Project, and reload it. There’s also a Save Bank option (and Reload Bank) which might do what you hope… I’ve not tried it.
I checked the manual for a temporary Pattern save, like on the Analog twins and some of the Digis. I couldn’t find such a thing for the Octatrack.
it’s what i need indeed. thanks
when you save current bank it save all the pattern of the bank. it work.
you can also transfer a bank from a project to another all settings exept the samples.
thanks again
Patterns and parts are saved in bank files.
À shortcut to save banks would be great instead of menu diving. Is there any?
I don’t know anything about save bank.
If you want to experiment with trigs, copy your pattern (exit grid mode, copy), go to an empty pattern in the same bank (e.g. 16), paste your trigs, switch to the same Part of the and there you go.
If you need a temporary save of the pattern, copy it. It will stay in memory as long as you don’t copy anything else.
Thanks. I forgot Banks have separate files.
No. They contain patterns, parts settings, and saved parts.
A bank can be saved with parts settings different from saved parts. When you reload a bank, you reload parts settings as they were when you saved the bank : it doesn’t reload saved parts settings !
A part setting can have 4 different values :
- Current bank part value
- Current bank saved part value
- Saved bank part value
- Saved bank saved part value
(When you save the project, all banks are saved.)
No.
Save project.
Thats what I do.
Is a saved Part like the temporary saved patterns on the Analogs?
I am not sure, I don’t think so.
