I tend to form a mental picture of some frequent posters based on their handle and avatar, even though I know they’re both arbitrarily chosen. And then sometimes I will catch a glimpse of them in a still or video and be shocked that they don’t look anything like what I had imagined.
Nice to find out that’s a common Elektronauts problem. @Fin25 comes to mind, for about a year I thought his avatar is showing some kind of filthy pig and was afraid to click it because I was afraid it would make me scared and be disgusting. Turns out it’s a pretty sweet dog. It’s kinda like his persona here as well, that can seem a bit harsh in the beginning, but if you read more, you find out he’s one of the nicest people around here and puts scumbags to shame like no one else.
Also grateful that @Leonsarmiento went back to an avatar that looks like him after rushing through loads of more abstract ones in a short time recently.
ya…id like to change names. phealam was based on who was in the group. now im alone. id like it to be palm.
my name is a shitty reminder of an awesome friendship that went south.
I think that’s the beauty of the concept of avatar, to me, avatars represent something else about a person, an idea, a love for something, a vision, whatever that might be, something that is important for them no less then their own image, and in a sense that can tell more about who the person is rather how they look, which imo is way more interesting.
so in general I don’t mind people changing avatars, I think it represents a change in a person life, and usually changes are good thing

All thinking is overthinking.
I do this very exceptionally but your story fits.
That’s very kind @LyingDalai!
Welcome to the board. Glad to have you.
Ah shit! That was you!?!
What was the one before, with the scarf beard?
Source of mine.
Got a cheap A4 that was painted all white for some reason, with the labels written in by hand with a sharpie. I made it over.
I ended up selling it to a retro game music nerd and I tried to buy it back a few times actually. Ha. It went to the right home though.
(Yes, all sounds are coming from that A4. I just sent it some game midi from the DAW and made up some quick patches that fit.)
E: Something I had as an avatar elsewhere at one point. My work is a treasure trove of random, cool looking shit.
I designed and bent those up for a specific project. They just looked cool on the work table near our press-brake.
this change was shocking without the context, saw it in another thread and thought my elektronauts interface was broken.
Welp, palm can never change their avatar or we are all screwed!
Good thing I’m stupid!
Is your champion 600 modified to have a tube rectifier? That’s wild. Did you move the preamp tube socket off of the PCB as well it looks like?
lord if @captain8 suddently turns into olgreazysnackstard or something like that I’m going to lose all faith in humanity.
Heh hopefully that split second freeze frame you spotted wasn’t too misleading.
I actually bought the amp that way in terms of the 5F1 circuit crammed inside.
I added a new speaker and a spring reverb ish pedal inside (and the moderately ghetto rigged power strip to power these both at once)
Now I finally have the actual Princeton Reverb I’ve always wanted and I’m a happy camper.
That lil amp was killer while I had it though.
