You and Rephraser . . . are for me the only people on YT I watch and salute for their dedication and will to share the DT content and knowledge in ongoing rhythm. Your music is one of the best I have heard in a long time. Everytime I see your new video I got reminded, that limitation is the only motor to move forward. Thank you for you dedication, fantastic content! People like you are the real people who move this music machinery forward and who inspire others… We have been lucky you have chosen Elektron boxes for your adventures… I guess Cheers, Mike
Thanks @Unifono, @AdamJay, @mp and @vasidudu! mp it’s so awesome to hear how much you like my stuff, thank you! @rephazer’s “Evans Corner” was one of the videos that finally made me decide to go for a Digitakt. And yeah, I’ve never been as productive as I am now, and I think it’s because of the Digitakt’s limitations. I’m laser focused when working on the DT. Even if I can work faster in a DAW, I’m more patient on the DT. I’ve had the DT for 4 months and it’s still as inspiring to work on as ever
Great work @Eaves! The amount of output with the Digitakt you make is amazing and bizarre at the same time. Knowing how much time this stuff takes to put up on YouTube alone and with that frequency I would almost want to warn you to not get a burn out haha, but you are on fire nevertheless! It’s great that you have such a succes on Reddit which seems like a job in itself to make an interesting post worth checking out. Keep it up mate and great to read I am partly responsible for another Digitakt sale to an artist haha Elektron take notice!
Thank you @zpink, @dtr, @Adam9 and @rephazer! Yeah, I’m taking steps to prevent burnout. If I’m working on a project at haven’t enjoyed the last hour, I abandon it and go play some video games instead. When uploading a video, I take a break from the DT the next day (and refresh the browser endlessly).
And thank you! Yeah, it’s often hit or miss on Reddit, but it seems more tied to when I’m posting and not so much what I’m posting, as long as there’s a thumbnail of the Digitakt. Very early on I posted a video around the same time as this other guy and we both got a LOT of attention. We both uploaded another video at the same time a day or two later, and we both got way less attention than last time. Both of his videos were really well produced and had awesome music.
The Digitakt seemed like such a fun box and I was imagining what sort of sound I wanted to get out of it, and then I heard Evans Corner. That’s what I want to sound like!
OH damn! I’ve been watching your videos in the background at work for months. Glad you’re on this forum! Love your workflow, and appreciate the video you did about it.
@Eaves I can really relate to that Reddit experience and I think the right timing is key there! What that right timing may be is still a riddle for me haha and thank you so much for the flattering comment regarding Evan’s Corner. Much appreciated and you have a great (compressed) sound of your own See what I did there?
Promoting yourself is really a hell if you ask me and I too suck at it big time so I am probably not your best advisor haha.
Facebook likes of my deaf grandmother is very sweet but not really motivating so I mostly share my jams to device specific Facebook groups (lots of Elektron groups which you can join) and sometimes on reddit/r/synthesizer (link in Eaves top post) and I think there is a Elektron sub reddit too, but timing and a catchy post title is crucial I think. Elektronauts and local synthesizer forums if you are able to find some.
Perhaps Eaves and/or other Nauts have some more tips?
Thank you @mr_bernard, @re5et! Yeah, the compressor is so good. My favorite bass guitar effect is also Compressor. You compressed it! I could benefit from a no Compressor challenge
@rephazer is spot on about promoting yourself, @Ryan I when I finish a track, I post it on YouTube, then post a link on r/synthesizers on reddit, then post a link here. I used to post on r/Elektron on reddit too, but I think there’s enough overlap that I’d rather keep my post history free of spam.
I haven’t figured out the perfect time to post, but to avoid the disappointment I just post IMMEDIATELY after the video is done rendering . By that I mean instead of pining over the right time to post, I just post it so it’s done and I can think of something else. I think I’ve been lucky a few times by virtue of posting very often, though!
