I made an app for making samples for grid machines!

I got a Digitakt 2 last fall and immediately got interested in using single cycle waveforms to create synth sounds with it. I had an idea about how to make my own SCWs which led to this iOS app I built called Wave Sculptor. It helps you combine waveforms to create a wavetable with multiple steps where each step can be slightly different. This work great in a grid machine on the Digitakt as you can have it loop the playback and modulate the slice select to get a different timbre.

It works by layering waveforms together and then allowing you to modulate their parameters over the wavetable. Each step will be a perfect single cycle waveform, but switching between the steps gives you a different sound.

I know there are other things like this, but this is my take and I hope it is useful to some people. If you give it a shot let me know what you think and what you’d like to see!

Full disclosure-- the app is fully functional and you can have up to 3 wavetables at a time. You can export the wav files, delete them, and create another as much as you want. If you feel like supporting this work, you can unlock the ability to create unlimited wavetables for $5.

Cool! I would buy it if you had an Android or PC/Windows release as well :+1:, it looks like a useful app, but I don’t use the apple ecosysteem :upside_down_face:

Hi! I’m not planning on making an android or windows version, but I did make a sample pack of wavetables for the Digitakt. If you have another device (I just added support for the Tonverk wavetable format) or want something specific I am happy to make you a wavetable or two. lmk!

I pushed an update to this that added some things, including the ability to organize wavetables into packs. This lets you change the settings for multiple wavetables at once and export all of them in a zip file, which makes it really easy to try things on the Digitakt or Tonverk. Would love any feedback or requests!
