I have to spank my Machinedrum

I´m not even kidding, a lot of the times i start my MD it just starts with a garbled screen.
If i switch it off and give it a good pat on its back it´s back to normal until the next time it fails, sometimes soon, sometimes it works for weeks without a hitch.

i opened it to reseat all connection headers but this doesn´t seem to help.

I´m against this violence but i have no idea what the problem could be, any idea would be greatly appreciated. OS is the latest version by the MegaCommand Guys and i have a MegaCommand connected as well but it doesn´t make any difference whether the MegaCommand is connected or not.

Internal connector issues likely.

Don’t spank your MD…could be a PSU or power board issue or a connector/cable. Or maybe it’s the display. Does it work with a garbled screen or does it not fully boot?

“Have you tried using the back of your hand instead?”

No it doesn´t work with the garbled screen. the other day it froze during playing with it and after i turned it off and on again it would show me the same screen it had when it crashed.

I forgot to mention, i tried the built in hardware tests and it showed no problems.

I´ll contact the Elektron support

Open device, unplug and plug in the white connector between the two boards.
Use Deoxit if you have or if that didn’t work without.

Might be the British climate, but I get through two of these every 18 months or so. They get completely full.
Never had issues with oxidisation. Closer to the equator I imagine this is harder to mitigate.

Close to the equator you would typically get over 2 liters a day out of a freestanding electric dehumidifier. Aircon is the best option. I do worry about my machines…
