You don’t get an MnM just for the FM, you get it for the total package. It is (imo) a much deeper machine than the digitone, even if it’s FM engine isn’t as complex.
I would say that the other aspect where it shines is it’s UI. It’s really easy to program IMO, whereas it was taking me ages on a PreenFM…
MM is quicker to program, there are less parameters, but I find it less clear.

I absolutely agree about the UI. I haven’t had an opportunity to try the preen yet but I’ve spent countless hours over the years pushing that fader around on the dx7. Ugh.
