Hypnotic techno workflow

Hi,

im looking for nice Digitone and Digitakt hypnotic/dark/dub techno workflow tutorial.

Maybe someone have something nice to share?

These aren’t the techno subgenres you’re talking about, but the overall workflow reflected in his how-to’s should apply.

thanks

At he risk of sounding a bit vague , when it comes to hypnotic music in general it’s not so much about a specific workflow , but more about continiously tweaking sounds , loops and fx , preferably live jamming , until you get into the zone…for hours and hours if you have to , just leave the machines running , turn knobs until it strarts to groove , don’t overthink it … there is no magic hypnotic workflow…just disconect from the world and let it flow…

I would suggest Rpnny Pries’ videos on dub techno. He works in Ableton but Dub Techno is a notoriously hypnotic genre and he gives a lot a great advices on how to repeat yourself without boring yourself.

Anyway, LFOs, Velocity, randomness, found sounds and noise are your friends.

Obviously a VERY late reply here, but I was searching for a similar thing recently. If you haven’t seen Yan Cook’s YouTube channel, definitely check it out. Some of the best Digitone-only techno I’ve seen.

Also I would advise you to listen to hypnotic tracks and try to reverse engineer the elements you hear, this worked for me on the Digitone listening to Hypnus records artists performing and realising that most of the kick-bass patterns sounded like the bass came directly out of the kick.

So I tried to replicate this, making a kick with lfo as pitch envelope, and having the bass ring out from that got me started on making a pretty solid hypnotic pattern. Be sure to cut the lows on the reverb, boost the highs and boost the decay. Everything on top of the kick-bass pushed through the reverb will be just sprinkles on top of the cake.

And make sure to have fun and be yourself!! :DD
